We all know how much the Power of the Purr and Paw have helped us or our furmily and furriends when we've had health troubles. This thread is fur kits whose UT problems are flaring up and who could use a dose of pawsitive energy. So if you are having any problem with your condition, or know of a kit who is, please alert us with a post here! Then it will be easy for any kit who wants to send good wishes to add them to the thread, and the sick kits can read them all at once instead of having to click through many group messages.

If requests for purrs needed are made in the group messages instead, the admins will try to make a note here as well. We're not trying to discourage everyday posting in the group messages at all - just make it easy for kits to pop in and see all the health alerts or get-well messages they're looking for.

With that said, two of our members are needing purrs right now. Ollie Popoki's recent vet visit showed a few crystals in her urine that don't seem to be causing her any problems, but we all know it would be better if they weren't there at all! So I'm purring fur her increased-water diet to work fur her.

And little Scooter was just diagnosed with crystals, and needs some purrs while he and his family adjust to his having urinary tract issues. I'm purring that he has an easy transition to whatever measures his vet has recommended, and that soon he won't feel any pain or need to go outside his litterbox, so that his family's life can return to normal.

New member Odie, who is sister to our Tigger, was just diagnosed with struvite stones today. She had had a urinary tract infection a couple of weeks ago and was peeing blood even though the infection cleared up, so she went back to the V-E-T and they did an x-ray and found the stones. She's supposed to eat a stone-dissolving diet for a month to see if that helps her. I'm purring that it does, because if diet doesn't work she may need surgery.

Well, add Tim to the recovery list! This is his 3rd time of getting the struvite crystals. One of the times, the vet told my boyfriend's mom to stay away from wet cat food b/c the sugar in it was causing the crystals. This 3rd (and hopefully final) time, I took him in and of course they pushed Science Diet W/D on me. I bought it even though I know SD is crap. I was feeding Felidae at the time and figured I'd use the SD 'til I did some reading. Well, I sought help on the health forum here and now know what is going on!!!! It's unbelievable how little knowledge vets have sometimes... or maybe it's ignorance they choose. Anyway, Tim is doing great! I'm feeding him a ton of different cans of wet food, and he has been on Baytril for 2 weeks. It's great that there is support and a wealth of information here!!! smile

Oh, I am so happy to hear that Tim is doing O.K. I hear you on the Science Diet. Timo also used to eat the Science W/D dry food. He just liked dry food better then wet. I even asked my vet, when I adopted Timo, if I should feed him dry or wet food. He said either one is fine, wet just makes their poop smell more (not true). Timo is not getting one piece of kibble ever again. I can only imagine how dehydrated they must get from that. It only makes sense. Mouse doesn't come in kibble form if I remember correctly, MOL.
Here is to good health for Tim and Timo AND all the other kitties here in this group.

Seamus

I will attack!- And you don't- want that!

Hi everyone, Meowmie here...

Seamus needs lots of purrayers. He went potty fine the first day he was home after surgery, but stopped going #1 day 2. I had him in to the vet 3x in 4 days to be expressed, and on the 3rd visit the surgeon said that we had to cath him and leave him with mega meds @ the clinic for 4 days to stop the atonic bladder. Dr. G said he's not sure if this is going to work, and if not, Seamus will have to be manually expressed for the rest of his life (I won't think of the other option because it's not one) ... He gets out of kitty jail Saturday AM...I'll follow up with you all then. smile

Thanks for the support. This is SO hard for us both.

Love, Amber
