Am I gonna get bonked on the head for mentioning non-dog books?thinking

Mom read a couple of books over the holidays- The Red Tent by Anita Diamant (very interesting story about Dinah, from the biblical book of Genesis), Loving Frank by Nancy Horan(about Frank Lloyd Wright's love affair), and The Daily Coyote by Shreve Stockton (about a writer/photographer who raised an orphaned coyote). Mom liked the one about the coyote best. She also decided I must have coyote blood in me after reading the book. Anyone else read any of these?

Zak

Glad to have A/C

No, I've seen a documentary about Wright that mentioned his love affair, so I'm going to get that one from the library and the Coyote one, too.

Thanks, Sophie! Always happy to learn about different books that folks are reading!way to go

Reading 2 real good non-dog books here:
"She's Not There; a life in 2 genders" by Jennifer Finney Boylan and "Suburban Safari: A Year on the Lawn" by Hannah Holmes

Just finished the dog books "Merle's Door" by Ted Kerasote and "Where the Red Fern Grows" by Wilson Rawls (both former dog-eared picks)

Mom read the Red tent but ot the others. The Coyote one sounds quite interesting! Mom just finished a book by hHenning Mankel called Kennedy's Brain...Mankell is a fabulous mystery writer (kind of dark at times though)

Oh, so glad Mom can give some more book suggestions. She gets so excited about books - more than about me, I think, sometimes. She just finished REVOLUTIONARY ROAD and wondered why she'd neve heard of it before the movie came out- good read. Now she's into OUT STEALING HORSES - likes it, too. Also reading WE GIVE OUR HEARTS TO DOGS TO TEAR and OLD DOGS are the BEST DOGS. She liked RED TENT and would recommend it. Lately she's gotten into the 44 SCOTLAND STREET series by Alexander McCall Smith - look under McCall Smith, not Smith. She's really intrigued by that Coyote book. Read on, read on, fellow book lovers.

Oh, Mom just remembered one she really liked about coyotes. It's SKYWATER by Melinda Popham. It's a bit on the mystical and magical realism side, but struck her as a beautiful book. But then she has srange opinions sometimes!hamster dance
