from The Mountain:

Atlanta did have a severe drought and the lake that flooded
yesterday was nearly dried up just last year. The drought ended
on the morning that I began recording the Words for Healing CD.

This is an excerpt from the full history of the CD:

"The next day after the music was finished in the early morning
immediately after my 5am prayer, I took a small recorder and
microphone and began to record the words. I really did not
intend for the voice recording to be the final product, but I
just felt led to try it right then. Atlanta was experiencing
the worst drought in its recorded history. We had not had rain
for weeks. As I began to speak in the darkness of the early
morning hours it began to rain. As I continued to speak it
began to thunder. When I stopped talking, the thunder and rain
stopped. You had to be there to experience God's seal being
placed on that recording. That morning was as mystical as it
gets.

"I thought that the Words for Healing CD was finished, but there
was a copyright issue with the New King James Version of the
Bible that I used. The used text had to be less than 50% of the
total words and it was slightly over 50%. I had to add more to
the CD to make it compliant with the rules of use. Thus, I added
The Seven Affirmations. I tried to record The Seven Affirmations
in a more professional setting but it just didn't sound right.
So I went back to my same room, in the same chair and began in
the same early hours of the morning. When I started to speak,
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The sound of the rain!
It began raining and this was several weeks after the first
recording. I listened amazed as I spoke. God had placed His
stamp of approval and power again."

God does cause drought and rain, and drought and rain are
usually symbolic and for purpose. He caused drought (Luke 4:25)
and He caused rain as He does in our lives. The thing is, we
often need the cycle, and we can curse both the drought and the
rain when we don't understand the true purpose.

Each person must seek the meaning of them if they are sensitive
to Divine leadings.

The main road to my office is blocked today from the flood.
It's still flooded in many places in Atlanta

...and more rain is in the forecast.

I lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
Psalm 121:1–2 (NIV)

Many years ago a friend shared her favorite tidbit of wisdom with my five-year-old son. “When in doubt, look up,” she advised him. He immediately looked up at the sky. She smiled. “That’s right, Christopher. If you’re ever in doubt of what to do, just look up. The answer always comes when we remember to ask our Father in heaven.”

A few weeks later I took Christopher to the county fair. We rode kiddy rides, visited the pens of farm animals and finished off the day with some cotton candy. Sunburned and exhausted, we made our way to the parking lot. I dug around in my purse for the car keys. After a few minutes of searching, I peered into the car; my keys were still in the ignition. “Oh no,” I groaned, “we’re locked out of the car! Now what?”

“When in doubt, look up,” Christopher said.

“Not now, honey,” I said. “I’ve got to figure out what to do.”

“Mommy, when in doubt, look up,” he repeated.

“Okay, honey,” I sighed, “you’re right. Let’s pray.” I took his hand in mine. “Lord, we’re stranded here at the fairgrounds. Please help us find a solution to our problem. Amen.”

Just then, we heard a loud roar overhead. It was a small biplane pulling a banner advertising a locksmith! I quickly wrote down the phone number. “Let’s go find a pay phone!” I said.

A few hours later we were back in our car, headed home. I looked into my rearview mirror at Christopher buckled into his car seat, sound asleep. I said a prayer of thanks for this little boy, whose simple faith had led me to just the right answer.

Lord, may I always remember to look up to You for the answers in my life.

Isn't this something!!

A medical doctor wrote:

A couple of days ago I was running (I use that term very loosely) on my treadmill, watching a DVD sermon by Louie Giglio...and I was BLOWN AWAY! I want to share what I learned...but I fear not being able to convey it as well as I want. I will share anyway.

He (Louie) was talking about how inconceivably BIG our God is...how He spoke the universe into being...how He breathes stars out of His mouth that are huge raging balls of fire...etc. etc. Then He went on to speak of how this star-breathing, universe creating God ALSO knitted our human bodies together with amazing detail and wonder. At this point I am LOVING it (fascinating from a medical standpoint, you know.) ....and I was remembering how I was constantly amazed during medical school as I learned more and more about God's handiwork.. I remember so many times thinking....'How can ANYONE deny that a Creator did all of this???'?

Louie went on to talk about how we can trust that the God who created all this, also has the power to hold it all together when things seem to be falling apart...how our loving Creator is also our sustainer.

And then I lost my breath.

And it wasn't because I was running my treadmill, either!!!

It was because he started talking about laminin.

I knew about laminin. Here is how wikipedia describes them: 'Laminins are a family of proteins that are an integral part of the structural scaffolding of basement membranes in almost every animal tissue.' You see....laminins are what hold us together....LITERALLY. They are cell adhesion molecules. They are what holds one cell of our bodies to the next cell.. Without them, we would literally fall apart. And I knew all this already. But what I didn't know is what laminin LOOKED LIKE.

But now I do.

And I have thought about it a thousand times since ....

Here is what the structure of laminin looks like...AND THIS IS NOT a 'Christian portrayal' of it....if you look up laminin in any scientific/medical piece of literature, this is what you will see...

( The picture of a cross didn't come through.)

Now tell me that our God is not the coolest!!!?OUR GOD IS Amazing beyond words.

The glue that holds us together....ALL of us....is in the shape of the cross.

Immediately Colossians 1:15-17 comes to mind.

'He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth , visible and invisible,

whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.

He is before all things, and in him all things HOLD TOGETHER. ' Colossians 1:15-17.

Call me crazy. I just think that is very, very, very cool.

Thousands of years before the world knew anything about laminin, Paul penned those words. And now we see that from a very LITERAL standpoint, we are held together...one cell to another....by the cross.

You would never in a quadrillion years convince me that this is anything other than the mark of a Creator who knew EXACTLY what laminin 'glue' would look like long before Adam even breathed his first breath!!

" Faith is not knowing what the future holds, but knowing who holds the future."

I wanted you to know and to undertstand that YOU are being held together by the cross of Jesus Christ! His love! His forgiveness and His marvelous power!

Today's Power Thought:
Practice Affirming God's Presence.

Visualize God's presence several minutes each day. Affirm, "God is with me; God is helping me; God is guiding me." Practice believing that affirmation. Affirm it, visualize it, and it will actualize itself. God is always with you. Seek Him out.

They . . . went without food all day as a sign of sorrow for their sins. . . .
I Samuel 7:6 (TLB)

Today is Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement and the culmination of the ten Days of Awe of the Jewish new year. A week ago I asked one of my Jewish friends to join me for lunch, and when she told me she wouldn’t be available until after Yom Kippur, it led her to explain these holy days of her faith.

“This is the time when we search our souls and try to find ways to better obey God’s commandments. We repent of our sins and ask forgiveness from those we have offended.”

“Do you fast on Yom Kippur?” I asked.

“Not only from food but even from water.” There was a pause at her end of the phone. “It’s so we can better focus spiritually and also show ourselves that if we can discipline ourselves this way, we can control other things in our lives that may be leading us away from God.”

I was impressed. It had been a long time since I’d taken a day for fasting and prayer. I decided that quietly, in my own way, I’d make Yom Kippur an opportunity to search my soul.

In thought, word and deed, for all my transgressions, forgive me, Lord Jesus, my Redeemer. Create in me a clean heart and strengthen my resolve to more closely follow Your commandments.

Rain
=====

Today's MountainWings Moment made me think of a small quote I
wrote a while back when I was feeling down. I don't remember
for sure, but it's very possible that it was something I read
in MountainWings that inspired me. I have it set on my personal
email account as my signature so that it goes into every email
I compose. Maybe, in some small way, it will lift someone who
is feeling down.

"Rain: A little drizzle isn't bad - it's nourishment. All of
God's life needs a little rain to survive; it's what makes us
grow to become beautiful and strong. Sometimes the rain turns
into a storm, making us feel muddy and flooded as if everything
good has been washed away. It's then that we need to look for
the rainbow which He promised would be there. If we look for it,
we will find it, but first we must open our eyes so that we can
see it.

Jobs and Job
=============

If you ask the typical Christian what book and character of the
Bible represents the most severe trial, the vast majority will
identify Job.

Job was a man who had it all, then lost most of it and suffered
tremendously. There is often reference to "The Job Experience,"
and many of us will one day or are currently enduring a type of
Job experience of pain, ridicule, and suffering.

I urge you to remember this when it comes:

Job went through tremendous loss after he had been granted much.
He lost his ten children. When all was restored, everything he
had was restored double except his children. He only got ten
children back, why didn't he get twenty children?

Because he will likely see the original ten children again, he
didn't lose them, he was only parted from them in his lifetime.

Some of you will lose jobs or your current nightmares and
sleeplessness are due to the fear of losing your job. It's no
accident that job is spelled just like Job, and for many losing
your job will be your Job Experience.

It will be restored.

Scholars claim the book of Job is the oldest book of the Bible.
Perhaps intense trials at some point in our lives is the oldest
human condition.

Keep the faith, don't lose heart, and remember, like Job, you
won't lose it all, and when restoration comes, your latter days
will be greater than the former.

The book of Job has 42 chapters.
