Ok, pawrents another question for you all: During hurricane Katrina, very few people people were prepared. Are you prepared in case you have to evacuate and what would you take?

Mama's not really prepared... she can't figure out how. Catching us and putting us in carriers is a challenge one at a time... four is a daunting thought... mol!! We DO all have our own carriers and there's a sticker on the door saying there are four of us in here. As for anything else in the house... she'd grab her teddy bear I know. Important documents are in a fire proof lockbox so they're ok. Where we live the odds of evacuation for something are pretty low... but there'll be a rush for carriers if needed... and probably bandaids... ^~~^

We evacuated for Ivan, stayed here for Katrina and will stay for Gustav since it looks like it is going further west of us. We purr and pray that all furs in LA and surrounding areas are safe and have someone to take care of them.

We have carriers, but trying to get Squirrel and Marmi into one will be a challenge. Snickers and I don't fight about it. We also have signs posted on the doors stating how many cats live in the house. If Mom leaves we will all go with her, somehow she will get us in to the carriers. She will not leave us alone.

When we evacuated for Ivan, we went with Mom's sister and her furs, so it was 7 cats and one husky in a hotel room for 2 1/2 days. OMC, what a nightmare.

Mom took all our shot records, and all the papers for the house and insurance records, will, etc. She keeps all of them together so she can easily find them.

We just pray that everyone is safe.

I didn't do it!

We are praying for everyone too.

Since we live on the coast of NC, we are always prepared. We would take Mommy and other furless family members, our food and treats, and of course Cat's medicine.

I want to send so many wishes that everyone who is affected by Gustav will BE SAFE!!!
We don't have hurricanes here in Iowa but in the spring and summer we have bad storms and possible tornados so Mom always makes sure that we are safe and that she has our records from the doctor, food and treats "just in case".

thinkingWe don't have hurricaines here, but Meowm would evacuate if she was told Mt. Rainier would blow, like Mt. St. Helen's did. Mt Rainier is about 60 miles (as the cat walks) from our house.

The most likely disaster would be an earthquake. I wasn't born until after the last one in 2001, but my sistfur Lil' One says it was scary. She hid under the covers, just like she did during the last disaster. That was a house fire, and she lived while all the other cats died of smoke inhalation.cry

Meowm keeps saying she'll get a disaster kit ready. She did get certified in CPR, AED and furst aid fur hoomins.
