Pete - Angel DB #26

My heart is true

Purred: Sun Mar 23, '08 4:25pm PST
My name is Pete and I was a grey and white tiger domestic shorthair. I came to the Bridge when I was 16 years old. I've been here at the Bridge for close to 15 years.

First I started losing hair on my tummy and had took medication for a few years (which mommy blames for my later problems with blindness). Then I got hyperthyroidism and had surgery. Next I went blind, then completely senile. The vets couldn't find out what was wrong with me.

I will make- you smile

Purred: Sun Mar 23, '08 4:30pm PST
My name is Jennifer and I was a domestic shorthair black & white tuxedo. Pete and I are brother and sister and mommy adopted both of us when we were 6 weeks old. I came here to Rainbow Bridge only three months short of my 18th birthday. It's been 13 years since I came here.

When I was 14, I got sick with hyperthyroidism. The medicine made me sick so I had surgery to remove the thyroid glands. That's when the vet found out I was in kidney failure. With a special diet and fluids, I lived with CRF until I was almost 18, when a tumor was found growing in my bladder. There was no way it could be removed. Mommy waited as long as she could but was afraid the tumor would burst, so I came here to the Bridge on January 11, 1995.

Abby at- Rainbow- Bridge

Guardian- Angel

Purred: Sun Mar 23, '08 4:42pm PST
My name is Abby and I'm a brown/tortoiseshell tabby (torbie). I came to the Bridge on December 22, 2005, when I was about 11-12 years old.

Mommy adopted me from a rescue group when I was a little over 3 years old. Sadly, she doesn't know much of my history from before then, other than that I had spent almost all of my early years in shelters and that I'd had one litter of kittens.

In spring-summer of 2005, I began to get bizarre symptoms like black discharge from my ears, runny nose and eyes and headaches. My vet couldn't diagnose what was wrong and thought it was allergies. Mommy took me to other vets but no one could figure it out. My blood tests and exams showed nothing wrong. But mommy knew something was very wrong.

In November 2005 I started to have trouble eating and swallowing. More tests were done. Then in early December, my stomach grew large. Mommy went to a new vet. After xrays, ultrasound, aspiration of fluids in my tummy, etc., I was diagnosed with cancer. The mass lesions were everywhere: in all of my internal organs and lymph nodes and throat. The vet said it was too late. So did the oncologist. They said I couldn't handle chemo. Mommy waited until she could see I was in agony and then let me go, 16 days after my diagnosis.

Mommy wonders why no vet could find my cancer earlier, esp. when I had symptoms and mommy knew something was wrong. crycry
