Welcome angels! Thanks for joining us. This thread is to discuss group logistics like who do we want to invite to join us -- just angels or our guardees too? How will we recruit new angels and find new cats in need of guarding, etc.

Hi Rufus and effuryone wave

We can invite those Bridge kitties we know or see around in different groups who purr for others and see if they want to join. I have a few in mind who I'll invite once we decide how we're going to do things. We can also invite the guardian angels from WW.

We can keep track of the purrs thread in the Forums and requests for purrs in groups like PAWS and the Power of a Purr and Prayer. Are there any other purr groups? Some purr requests are made in specialty groups, such as Black Cats Crossing, BOCU or Olde Furts. Once we see a need, I'm not sure how to ask if a kitty wants a guardian (except to ask them, of course!)

One thing we can do is post any requests for guardian angels in the group and request guardians. How would guardians be assigned? Do we volunteer? Or do group admins make requests to specific angels?

Another question Rufus brought up was whether or not to invite those who request a guardian angel to join our group. I'm more than happy to have those kitties join if they wish but it should be voluntary.

And of course we need a name for our group!

Do we want to add a background to the group page? I know someone who can make a background for us.

A background would be nice as long as it doesn't overpower the page. Do we want something like clouds or rainbows or angel wings or something?

A few questions to get us started:

How do we let others know about our group and its purpose?

How do we find those who need our purrs?

How do we offer ourselves to those in need of us?

Do you think it's OK to *advertise* our group in other groups?

Willl we be guardians for sick kitties with serious, long-term illnesses only or help out by purring for others who become acutely ill and might need a guardian for a short time or one who is missing from home?

Do we only invite Bridge guardians to be members of our group or also invite those who need us to be members too?

How do we assign the guardian angels?

We will be called guardian angels. What will we call those who are in need of our purrs?

Our own group's permanent candle page?

Other than purrs requests and updates, etc., what other kinds of messages should we allow to be posted in our group?

How do we handle someone going to the Bridge?

Tough question Abby
Let me seethinking

1.How do we find those who need our purrs?

One that comes to mind right away is
Hazel Lucy's purr thread has all the sick kitties

2.Do you think it's OK to *advertise* our group in other groups?
Speaking for my family~
Yes
3.Our own group's permanent candle page?
~Yes

4Willl we be guardians for sick kitties with serious, long-term illnesses only or help out by purring for others who become acutely ill and might need a guardian for a short time or one who is missing from home?

All of the above except my brother Alfie has a purr group for Mr D who is missing and he will keep it going even after he is...hopefully.. found.

5.Other than purrs requests and updates, etc., what other kinds of messages should we allow to be posted in our group?
We think this should be left open to members. One thing we don't like is requests for votes. Not the place for it!

The rest of the questions we have to do more thinking!

I can't wait for my catster sister, Amelia to show up. I know she will have
great ideas! Talk about guardian angels! She is the best

Hazel Lucy's get well purrs thread is a great place to start. way to go There are the purrs groups too -- The Power of a Purr and Prayer and PAWS -- and I can ask the admins if it's OK to post a message about our group.

Thanks for reminding us about the contests. I do agree about no voting in contests.

Otherwise, IMO, I don't think it's a good idea to control what messages or topics can be posted in either the message center or the forums because it inhibits spontaneity and camaraderie among the members.

I can't wait for Amelia's ideas either!

Just a few more thoughts, then I'm going to bed. big grin

I looked at the Dogster Guardian Angels group page. laugh out loud

They have Bridge pups and earth pups (and did I see a kitty there too?) as members of the group. The more I think about it, the more sense it makes to invite both to our group.

We could call our kitties *furbaby/furbabies* ????

Would we be allowed to use a name like Catster Guardian Angels or do we need permission from HQ?
