How many of you have used this for flea prevention? What success have you had?

I was thinking of giving it to the dogs this year, and starting now before it starts thawing out...

Abby & Shadow are both on garlic for flea and tick control and we are seeing WONDERFUL results! I'm so happy I don't have to use Frontline or anything like that anymore. It even is keeping the skeeters away from them.

Actually it's more of a powder. It's called Bug Off Garlic and I order it from www.springtime.com - I don't remember if I put that in my last post. It's just air dried garlic that I mix with peanut butter. I didn't order the tablets because Abby is probably the pickiest lab on the face of the earth - BOL! I was afraid she wouldn't eat them.

I was just talking to someone who gives her dogs garlic to repel mosquitoes and ticks. She crushes the garlic and adds some parsley (to cut the smell) and mixes it with olive oil. She adds it to her dog's food everyday during tick season. She has sporting dogs and they are out in the brush and water everyday and she swears it works.

I'm thinking about switching to raw garlic - I'm just not sure how much to give each of them and Abby is persnickity and will only eat it in peanut butter - she's a brat! Plus, after shipping its like $32 for three one pound tubs so I guess for the conveiniece it's worth it.

We like the springtime, inc stuff... it alicin (sp?) that is potentially dangerous to dogs is lower in the air dried than in fresh...

So raw fresh garlic isn't a good idea? What about cooking it(roasting or boiling maybe)? What about garlic powder (no salt)? Sorry for all the questions.

I started using BY/garlic tablets (they are pretty small) 2 weeks ago. Just convenient for me and I know it's a safe amount.

they STINK though and I'm someone who loves the scent of garlic. Not much as far as results to comment on yet but I noticed slight changes with his skin. I got mine on onlynaturalpet.com
