This thread is dedicated to providing the information for pups who need our support and thoughts and well wishes by sending them an e-card!way to go All the information for each shower will be provided to you in each post.

If you would like to initiate a card shower, please either contact the admin(s) in charge of sending the request to the pup for information OR if you contacted the pup yourself, you can send me the information directly so I can post it in this thread. i will need the following information below:

Name and Dogster page link
background as to why the shower is needed
preference to receive card via e-mail or p-mail
e-mail address, if provided

Remember, we can send a card to a pup's p-mail just by sending them the link to the card you created. So if a pup is hesitant to provide an e-mail address, just give them the option of having one sent to their p-mail. big grin

To send a card to a pup's p-mail, after you create the card there should be a copy of the html link that you can copy and then paste in the p-mail. the other way to receive the html link is to send a copy of the card to your own e-mail and then when you view your e-mail, it will have the link to the card. You just copy and paste that link to the p-mail. I hope this helps, if still having problems, please p-mail me!

If it is a combined e-card and snail mail shower, you can still send me the information and I will refer pups to The Douglas Sisters or the admin in charge of snail mail showers for their address since we won't publish mailing addresses in the thread.

Thank you for being such caring and wonderful members!!!! And remember, you can also send PPRs, rosettes and bones too! Let's spread some love today!hug

E-CARD/SNAIL MAIL SHOWER FOR TICO EL BANDITO
Posted on December 30, 2007

Tico's message to the group:
I would be most honored to receive cards!
We all SO enjoyed getting Christmas Cards from our Dogster pals and getting a lovely card in the mail is THE best!
Since Mom is old fashioned she prefers snail mail but if it not possible for some e-mail is OK too.
Thank You for thinking of me!
Tico & Mom

e-mail address: jadesgranny1@sbcglobal.net

Pawmail THE DOUGLAS SISTERS for Snail Mail Address!

BACKGROUND FOR SHOWER REQUEST:

From Tico's Diary:
"Yesterday morning at aprox. 7:30 am our beloved brudder Tico was attacked by a HUGE Hawk in our own backyard.

Mom usually goes out with us but we had all overslept and Mom had to use the bathroom so she just let us out to do our business.
We have a large fenced in yard in a busy suburban neighborhood.
Mom heard Lucy,Daisy and H.Parker barking like crazy and looked out the bathroom window and saw what she thought was a big brown box in the yard.

Now why would someone throw a big box in our yard??? She thought... So Mom put on her coat and boots and went outside to discover it was a HUGE Hawk sitting on the ground about 20 feet from our house and he had Tico in his talons.

Lucy,Daisy and H.Parker tried everything to get Tico away from it.They were charging and barking and that hawk did not even blink.
Mom FREAKED out and started screaming and throwing snow.
When that didn't work she ran in to call Dad...He started yelling at Mom "Get the Dog" "Get Tico" and Mom is screaming.."I'm afraid..I'm afraid" Dad kept screaming for Mom to get Tico and she finally went into the garage and started throwing stuff at the Hawk.

She threw a bottle of oil, wood, jumper cables, tools, anything she could find and that *** Hawk would NOT move. She finally picked up a snow shovel and whipped it at the Hawk and he flew off leaving Tico bleeding on the ground. Mom scooped up Tico, got all the dogs in, grabbed a towel, coat and boots for her and our furless sissy and jumped in the car.

The Hawk was sitting on the snow shovel watching us as we left.
The emergency hospital is no more than 5 minutes from our house Thank Goodness but Mom was crying the whole way. There was blood everywhere and Mom kept yelling for Tico to stay awake.
Mom rushed into the hospital screaming and crying and Tico was whisked away upstairs to the ER. Mom had blood all over her and was trying to be as positive as possible for our little furless sissy but it wasnt easy!

A little while later Dad showed up at the hospital and both he and Mom cried for a while. After about 1/2 hour the Dogter came in and said Tico was in shock and had lost a lot of blood. They were concerned about neurological damage as he took a talon or beak puncture to the head. His body temp was down to 95 degree's and they had him in an incubator to keep him warm and on pain meds and fluids.

The Dogter said the good thing was that he is young and younger pups tend to bounce back faster, but, always a but, the bad thing was that he is SO tiny. After a while we were allowed to see him and it was just heartbreaking! He was lethargic and his head was SO swollen. We all gently rubbed his paw and told him we loved him and to keep fighting.

We would like to thank all of our Dogster friends for their support, prayers, kind words, pmails, stars and rosettes. Mom had tears in her eyes last night reading some of the comforting words and will thank everyone when she can." hug

E-CARD SHOWER FOR ZUKI
Request from member, Misha.

email address: bitt@myuw.net

Background of request
November 23, 2007
We took Zuki to the vet where we told about the coughing and the wheezing. The vet listened to his heart and heard a murmur (reflective of problems with the hearts values) and arrhythmia (electrical activity of the heart is irregular). They tested it with an ECG and this confirmed it.

December 27, 2007
The vet said he does not hear any evidence of me getting worse. I do have some trouble breathing, but my breathing rate (breaths per minute) is ok. Also I have not been coughing or having tummy problems which is good. I still have my arrhythmia, but it has not gotten worse so I am stable for now. I am still gonna take the same meds too.

*************************************

Zuki is one of our card shower members. Lets show him some love and support. hug

E-CARD SHOWER REQUEST FOR Saybel
Request by member, Misha

email address: dennisg19@hotmail.com

Background of Request
Saybel was diagnosed with lymphoma on April 9, 2007. Here are passages from her diary:

On April 9th 2007
Saybel was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer at 6 years old. April 11 we started chemotherapy our vet told us Saybel was a good candidate for chemo, her blood work was good and she wasn’t sick. She had been panting allot so I felt her throat and there were two ping pong sized lumps and there our journey began. Saybel is a black lab who has proven to be a fighter and a survivor! We started a 19 week protocol on April 11 2007 and we are now entering our last week of chemo as long as her blood work comes back in normal range this Thursday her last chemo will be Friday sept 7 2007.From there we have to have monthly check-ups, we will go to those with fingers and toes crossed!

September 10, 2007
My vet called my mom tonight my blood work came back in normal range!! I have my last chemo tomorrow night at 6pm, now I just want to stay in remission for a long, long, long time never to have cancer come back

September 12, 2007
Hey I am finally finished 19 weeks of chemo!!!!!!! Now my vet told my mom she thinks my remission should be a good one, my moms still really worried about me. There are no guarantees, but we are going to do our best and enjoy life. My mom has to check my lymph nodes once a week or once every two weeks but I know my mom she’s gonna check EVERYDAY smile Keep you posted on how I am LOVE Saybel

December 4, 2007
Well I have been doing great until I got an ear infection. My lymph nodes are up a bit but we are hoping its just from my ear infection moms so scared of losing me she lost my sister Bailee two years ago this December 19th and my 7th birthday is coming December 28th. Moms checking me so many times a day now. Vet says if cancer was back my lymphs would not go up then back down so we are hoping everything is going to be alright.

December 29, 2007
Well the antibiotics were working I got my bark back lost it for a few days Yahoo Mom finished my antibiotics and now my throat and lymphs are up again going back to the vet again mom is so scared she’s gonna lose me. Today is my 7th birthday I got a new kong with treats tails waggin big time. Even with my lymphs up I'm still a happy girl still doing my normal stuff so moms trying to be positive.

December 31, 2007
