Hi! We had to write, because in April, Mom got rid of our regular littler boxes and got one of those jumbo automatic self-cleaning boxes. We all use it and mom empties the refuse pan once a day, and takes the whole thing apart and cleans it once a week. It's changed our lives!! No more stinky boxes (don't know if it's the carbon filters or the ionic auto filter, but no more bad smell) and minimal clean-up. It is so cool!!!!!!!!

Wow I didn't realize how much this topic would take off. I guess there are a lot of us with litter woes. Has anybody mentioned the cat genie? It's a great product that seem to work great, a little expensive because for refills you HAVE to get their cleaning solution and litter granules, but it does work great. Which is wonderful, but NOT ONE out of our 6 cats use it. Cats? What are ya gonna do. So typical. It is neck and neck in popularity compared to the Litter Robot (which I want to get)
*OK here's a great litter box tip*
An older woman I work with told me she adds cedar chips to her litter for to help with smell. It is amazing stuff. You can buy a huge bag of it at Walmart for dirt cheap (like under $10) and it lasts forever. 6 months I believe our first bag lasted. Just add a handful or two to your regular litter. . I think it is listed as a dog bed liner or something like that. Let me know if anyone buys it and what they think.

There is 9 of us in a two story 3 bedroom house don't know how big it is but there is 9 rooms in the house and lots of stairs! We love to run up and down them! We have 7 litter boxes all Jumbo size!!
There are 2 of us -- my sister Mittens and me -- in a 2-story, 4 bedroom house. We share 3 litterboxes. Two are upstairs in a spare bedroom and the other one is downstairs in the laundry room. Our litter is plain, unscented clay clumping litter. We have jumbo-sized, uncovered litter boxes, which we prefer over the covered ones. Mommy buys the store brand cat litter from either Pet Valu or Cutter's Mill. The boxes are scooped out at a minimum of every morning and evening and mommy changes the litter in the boxes every 3 weeks (unless they get really mucked up, then she does it sooner). The litter boxes only smell when one of us poops! We have no litter box issues or problems at all.
There are three kitties, one dog and our humans so its 6 of us. We live in a two bedroom house. 1200 sq feet. WE share a litter box. Meowmy cleans it three times a day. When it storms the doggie tries to hide in it so meowmy has to keep it clean. But it ok that we share it.. Meowmy uses Fresh Step...
We're 3 cats plus many other animals, and between 4 - 6 humans. (Some of them are moved out, but they come here very often with their odd puppies) We have 2 regular litter boxes and one Littermaid, (which we are going to replace with a Litter Robot soon! yay) And we live in a 4 story home with 5 bedrooms. So we got lots of room. mol
Just to ask, Is the litter robot + a regular litter box okay for 3 indoor cats?

There is 11 of us and momcat and dadcat and there 2 human kids which are teenageres. Our house is two stories. There is 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms and 4 other rooms downstairs. We have a total of 7 litter boxes in this house 4 downstairs and 3 upstairs. We have our own room downstairs that is full of nothing but cat stuff. Cat condo's, cat jungle gyms, tons and tons of kitty toys and we have 5 sets of bowls with food and water sitting on funny kitty place mats so we dont' make to much of a mess when we eat!
There are 10 fur-kids, mom, dad, and 3 regular kids! We live in a about a 1500 sq. ft. home plus basement but we're working on fixing it up so we'll have double the space. We have 4 litter boxes that get cleaned 3-4 times a day. When we fix up our basement we are going to have a cat room for all our litter boxes then we want to add a couple more boxes. Also, dad is going to make us a place outside where we can exit the house thru a cat door. We will have an enclosed, secure place to get some fresh air!
