 | | | | Oh, Mom's classmates wants to hear less about me and more about my Dad in her story! Well, Mom is working on her second draft, but she's not cutting me out, no way! The piece was a little imbalanced, with a ton of stuff about my Dad in the first half, then a bunch of stuff about me in the second half! But I'm the whole point of the story, really!
It's about how I helped my Dad get better after his brain surgery in 2003! And it closes with them losing me! Someone said to Mom, "Let's face it, pets get sick and have to be put to sleep every day." Mom wasn't supposed to get defensive, so she didn't say what she wanted to say which was: "You can say the same thing about anyone! People get sick and die every day." Plus, she knows no one was trying to hurt her feelings.
But that's kind of the aim of the story, to reach out to those who, maybe even for the first time in their lives, realize how strong the human-animal bond is, and how legitimate the grief of losing an animal is.
Thanks for the interest, guys. It's a long paper. Maybe Mom will put installments in my diary once it's all polished up. Mom knows you guys will appreciate it! | | | | |
