Momma also got some new books fur her birfday and she started reading one of those yesterday. It's really good so far! The title is "A Game of Thrones" and it is by George R.R. Martin.

MOL! Momma has the series of those books, Emma! She read them long ago and figured she would read them again some day soon. If you like the one you have, you can borrow the rest from us, if you want. Just let us know!

We are going to read "The lovely bones " next. It is by Alice Sebold. A lady from work gave it to us to read because she liked it. Has anybody read this one?

We have been reading like insane kats, because we have gotten into T.C.Boyle, whose short stories we always enjoyed in magazines- and his novels are such page-turners! We have read, in the last couple of weeks, THE WOMEN- a novel in which the author imagines the lives of the wives and gurl-friends of Frank Lloyd Wright; THE ROAD TO WELLVILLE-about the Kellogg sanitarium-hilarious; THE INNER CIRCLE- about Kinsey and his assistants-juicy; and RIVEN ROCK- about some crazy rich guy and his innarestin' wife. We enjoyed these books so much that Gita ordered MORE (there are 11!)!!! We ALSO read 2 Lional Shriver novels, but didn't like them as much as we loved WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN, FEMALE OF THE SPECIES, GAME CONTROL, A PERFECTLY GOOD FAMILy, and THE POST-BIRTHDAY WORLD. When do you have time to do all that reading, Smushy and Woozle? you may wonder. On the train... Anyway- we highly recommend all of the above. Gita also got a book called ANTHILL, by the ant guy, EO Wilson, but the setting reminds her of the gulf catastrophe, and she can't stand that. When the oil is cleaned up, and the wildlife saved in 452,000 years, we'll get back to it. Gita loves ants.

Wow! You guys have given us a WHOLE BUNCH of good ideas for books to read!

We have not read ANY of those yet, so we cannot talk to you about them, but WOW! We are making a list!

Also, we did not like Handmaid's Tale. We are sorry. frown

Well, i was going to start this anthropology book, "Art and Society in Roman Britain", but then I got sidetracked. When the flood hit the Albert Pike campground nearby, I started reading online at Masonicinfo.com about the man, Albert Pike, then got all interested in the Masonic stuff, because there have been a lot of Masons in my family and it's all very mysterious so, I may end up reading those darn Dan Brown books before it's all over!kittyeek

Let me know if you would like DaVinci Code, Hops!

We have it, but we do not care to keep it in our permanent collection!

That flash flood was so tragic. Our hearts go out to those who lost family members. frown

You didn't like "Handmaid's Tale", Kingsley? Too dystopian?
We have continued to read maniacally. On a big T.C. Boyle marathon. Maybe you would like "RIven Rock" or "Road to Wellville"- they are historical fiction. We plowed through, like, 9 Boyle novels ( page turners), including one about the explorer Mungo Park, called "Water Music". We weren't that crazy about the book, but it got us innarested in Mungo Park (the first westerner to see the niger river), so we are reading "The Cruelest Journey" by Kira Salak, who took a kayak for 600 miles on the Niger to Timbuctu. Yow!!! After we jam through that, we have a pile of travel writing to read!!! YAH!!!
