I saw The Reader when I was looking for a book to put on my iPod for the trip down to grandma's but I did not get it since you did not recommend it , Emma. Instead I got The Universe in a Single Atom by His Holiness The Dalai Lama. It is very interesting, comparing cutting edge science with Buddhist thought. I do not understand all of it though. It made me head right to the library when we got here to check out Freedom in Exile the Dalai Lama's autobiography. It is fascinating. I read it when I am not hiding from grandma's rambunctious pug puppy! Your friend in Tibetan solidarity, Kingsley

Hi All,
Right now we are reading The Wild Road. We are about half way through .I know cat stories are not your favorites Luna and Kingsley. But have you read this one? Any other cozy cat reading this book? We mostly like it. We bought it and the Golden cat which is the next one for 3$ for the both of them. Mum likes good used book prices.

Hellooo wave

I'm "helping" my human to read her book by laying all over it.. hehe
She's reading "The Dictionary of Khazars". It's good, full of myth and magic, tho' a bit weird also...

Anyway, it's soft and i recommend it as a good nap-bed! way to go

SERGEI! You are NOT supposed to SLEEP on it! You are supposed to READ it!

I looked this book up on Amazon, and it was so STRANGE! It comes in a Male and a Female Edition??? And the description starts off in English and then lapses into Serbian and I could NOT read any more about it!

I googled it and found it also in Wikipedia, which told me more about it! It said that it is quite fragmented and not to be read in chronological order necessarily! Whoa!

Very intriguing, my friend! Very intriguing!

It is very interesting, but a bit hard to keep up too... It's consisting of three small books gathered in one, with characters mixed etc etc. But, it's worth spending hours on it, mol!

Hey, is there any book that you're reading now?

Well, I was TRYING to read The Essential Rumi, translated by Coleman Barks, but I do not think I am in the right mood for it.

I am more in a spring farming kind of mood. Digging trenches for the asparagus and planting geraniums in the window boxes. That sort of thing. So I am still reading the Green Thoughts book that I mentioned on the group page.

And May 5th, I THINK, is when the last book in The Olympian series comes out! I will get THAT book for SURE!

Oh, my Mum loves Rumi. But it's not something you can sit and read for a couple hours. The wild road and the golden cat (part two) are sadcry. Some of it isn't but too much of it is.

What is the Olympian series about?

Hi Emma!

There is more on The Olympians in the Kiddie Lit thread, as the series is geared for a young adult audience.

But if you like Greek mythology, and you like to read books that have a lot of action and are very FUNNY, then you would like these! The thrust is that the ancient Greek gods still live, but their location shifts with the center of western civilization. Therefore, they now live in and around the United States.

Very fun books and very well written! They are SO CLEVER! I cannot WAIT to get my paws on the last one tomorrow!

Kingsley

Meowlo,
Mum and I just finished reading The Lightning Thief. We Liked it. The problem was mum had 2 dreams where people were chasing her then turned into monsters! One even got her coat as mum dashed into a bookstore (of course) for safety and pulled her arms out of the coat just as the monster got hold of it. For some reason the monster couldn't come into the bookstore and stood outside slashing her coat. It was scary. Shivers. I told mum she needs something like Percy's magic pen to take with her in her dreams.laugh out loud
