Hi Hunter,

Mommy read L'étranger in French. We are Brazilians, so read in French or in English is almost the same difficult. She liked a lot! She had difficult with some vocabulary, but he pocket dictionary is always nearby! wink

Now she is reading Blindness by Saramago for the second time. It is a book that put the reader inside the "animal" nature of human being. If you liked L'étranger you will probably like Blindness. Saramago is Portuguese, so mommy could read it in her native language, but it is available in English too.

Hi Bigode! We just started reading The Princess Bride by William Goldman. We have never seen the movie, but we saw this on a "best of" list and it got so many rave reviews that we are pretty excited!

Has anyone else read it?

Hi Kingsley,

Mommy never read anything by him. You are liking it?

Mommy and daddy are working a lot these time and she hasn't time to buy new books. Mommy read EVERY nigth, so she is now reading what she read a long time ago... LOL She is reading again The Process by Kafka.

(By the way, this is the catster group that mom like the most!)

Hugs!

Hi Bigode! We are REALLY liking it! It is so funny and we never know what to expect. And the author keeps breaking in to explain what he is skipping and why. It is lots of fun!

We are GLAD your mommy likes this group! We are not very noisy, but we are some NICE kitties!

Bigode, you read much more worthwhile books than my mom. Heehee- my mom has been reading somewhat trashy books lately. She needs the escape from stress. She did used to love Kafka though, but it's been more than 10 years since read anything by him.
Kingsley, the Princess Bride is such a good book! Isn't the scene when Wesley leaves Buttercup hilarious? And I love Inigo's story, and Fezzik's. There is SO much more than the movie. And Buttercup's personality is so much more developed. In the movie, she was very regal and moral, but in the book, she's kind of a twit, don't you think? The movie is great in it's own right, one of my all time favorite comedies, but the book is just amazing. And William Goldman is so funny. I could never figure out if the Princess Bride is really "abridged" or if the whole book is fiction, including the William Goldman parts.

Hi Toki! You are looking VERY bohemian!

I have not seen the movie yet! So I can't compare the two yet! I did watch some clips on Youtube which were very funny!

From what I can read when I googled it, the whole thing is Goldman. All those layers! I was confused by the two introductions, but I forged ahead! Then I went back to reread the intros, and they made a lot more sense!

I used to know the entire movie by heart. i still might be able to recite along with it heehee.
Did you finish Rick Riordan's Son of Neptune? I really want to read it, but I'm waiting to borrow it from the library. It's been checked out all month. I read the 2 Kane Chronicles books, and I they are just ok. Not as good as Percy.
I borrowed The Big Over Easy by Jasper Forde from the library, but I haven't started it yet.

Hi Toki!

We read The Eyre Affair by Fforde and then we read another one because we liked it! Don't remember which one.

We made it through most of the first Kane Chronicles, but like you, we did not like it as much as Olympians. Probably because we know next to nothing about Egyptian mythology.

There is a lot of Pacific Northwest humor in the second Riordan book--part of it takes place in Portland, Oregon and part in Seattle. Right now they are heading for Anchorage!

It is really fun!

We just finished The Son of Neptune! It was pawsome! Now we're reading Anna Dressed in Blood. It's a Young Adult novel about this kid who's a ghost killer. He meets his match in Anna. So far, it's pretty cool. Next we're reading Divergent (?). It's another YA book.
