Oh, momma read The Devil Wears Prada last year . . .

My mom just finished the novel Design Flaws of the Human Condition by Paul Schmidtberger and really enjoyed it.

Right now she's reading a non fiction book called 1968 by Mark Kurlansky. It's fascinating to her because she was 18 in 1968 and remembers lots about what happened then but it's also remarkable how much she's forgotten. laugh out loudwink

We picked up a book at Border's called The Dragon's Trail by Joanna Pitman. It's about Rafael's painting St. George and the Dragon, which has changed hands many times. We think it is very poorly written and researched. Very disappointing.

We read a similar book tracing a Caravaggio painting called The Lost Painting : The Quest for a Missing Caravaggio by Jonathan Harr which was excellent. Both non-fiction.

Uh-oh! We were finding the mystery book dull, so we started reading The Thirteenth Tale and so far, we like it alot.

Everybody needs to read a book called Doggy Style by Jane May. It is absolutely hilarious. It is told from the point of view of a Chihuahua mix and boy does he have attitude! Needless to say when the couple who adopt him break-up and split the pack he isn't too happy about it and sets out to make things right.

Mom also finished a book called Antiques Roadkill by Barbara Allen. When a guy is murdered it's found that he had bilked half of the old people in town out of their lifelong treasures and everyone is a suspect. It was also highly entertaining.

Funny? Hilarious! We LOVE hilarious! Thanks so much for the tip, Bisco! Assuming that the chihuahua doesn't die, of course! We hated those coming-of-age books we had to endure in school where the dog (or horse or whatever) always died in the end.

They don't seem to put kids on that emotional roller-coaster anymore. Shiloh doesn't die. Winn-Dixie doesn't die. But we always ask before we read them if the animal dies. Then we usually don't read them anyway. red face

No, the doggie doesn't die and he has a bit of a potty-mouth on him too so if that kind of thing offends some people then they might want to avoid it. Let's just say that he doesn't always react to strangers well and the translations of his barking aren't a recipe for cookies! This is an adult book, not for kids.

You are WELCOME, Hunter! I am glad you like them too! I think they are SO FUNNY as well as action-packed! Don't you love Apollo and his red Mazerati and bad haiku? And how the Aphrodite kids run around with their Gucci bags fixing everyone's make-up? And have you met Tyson yet? He's one of our favorites too! I like everything about the series!

Your action-loving friend,
