Finally have a chance to go to the library! unfortunately, no cats allowed here...
Picking up Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle, Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle's Farm. That's all they have- no Mysterious Benedict Society, no Daddy Long Legs! that's a classic! so annoying. Maybe I'll check another library later. Going to see what else is here...

Been really busy, but read the 2 Mrs. Piggle Wiggle books and the first 6 books of Warriors. Mrs Piggle Wiggle is adorable, especially the silly names the author throws in, like Paraphernalia, etc. And Hilary knight is one of my favorite children's illustrators (illustrated the book Eloise).
The Warriors series is great (thanks for suggesting them Emma). Even though it's easy to predict what will happen, I still really enjoyed them and I'm looking forward to reading the next set -The New Prophecy.

Hi Toki!

I am GLAD you like Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle! Kids do not change much, do they?

I am anxious to read Odd and the Frost Giants by Neil Gaiman. I love his writing and I loved Coraline and The Graveyard Book, so I BET I will love Odd too!

I read The Mysterious Benedict Society, and I loved it. Thanks so much for suggesting it Kingsley! I laughed out loud several times and grew to love the characters. I'm now starting on the sequel, The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey. I hope it is just as good.

Those kids are funny! The girl who carries everything she might need in a bucket at all times! And the tiny contrary one!

And I love how they tied up all the loose ends at the end! I will not say more for fear of spoiling it for other kitties!

Let me know how you like the sequel! I would like to read it too!

Your friend,
Kingsley

The sequel was awesome! I thought it was even funnier than the first one and had many surprises. I didn't want the book to end.
I've been on quite a kiddie lit streak. I hope I'm not regressing too much...
I'm also reading a (not children's) book called Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters by Jane Austen and Ben H. Winters (it's a mash up, classic text with uh... sea monsters.) It's good, very funny, but I stopped reading it so I could read the Warriors Power of Three series. I don't know why, I'm like addicted. I actually didn't like this series as much as the first and The New Prophecy, but I still couldn't help myself from burning through them all. Even now, it's late, I have work early tomorrow, and I just finished the last one. I thought the end of it sucked. It didn't even really end! Anyway, I guess I will go back to Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters.

Teacher's Funeral....I will check it out. I try to read some kiddy lit. during the summer so I can give recommendations to students...I enjoy the Vampire series as well as the movies. Being with middle school is interesting and recently kids have gone back to reading...Yeah!!!...

Thanks again..

I haven't read the Lovely Bones yet, but I've been meaning to. I just read The Changeling, and Song of the Gargoyle, both by Zilpha Keatley Snyder, but not a series. I loved the Changeling (even though I was disappointed to find that it was not really about a fairy changeling child) and thought it had some really beautiful, interesting ideas about growing up and friendship. I loved the fantasy "Tree People" world they invent. I've loved Zilpha Keatley Snyder ever since reading The Headless Cupid and The Egypt Game when I was younger. I love how she always has a supernatural element in her books as well as real, hilarious child characters.
Song of the Gargoyle was really good too. It was not super exciting, but I liked the overall message. Sometimes I kind of resent when a kids book has a "message", but this one is subtle and not forced. I loved the boy's companion the gargoyle- a mythical creature "faithful, grotesque, and loving". I kind of wish there was a little more fantasy in this story, because it has the medieval setting.
