I was in the middle of the Pacific Ocean on a cruise, and amazon.com does not deliver to the middle of the Pacific. I checked. So, I had to wait and the first thing I did when we hit land was buy the book. However, I didn't start reading it until Monday, I wanted to reread book six.
Anyway, I thought it was slow at first . It didn't really pick up until they got to Xeno Lovegoods which was like chapter 20. I like that it told us about Dumbldore and why he trusted Snape. I always felt that Snape was good. I knew Harry had to die but it never occured to me that he would be able to come back. I read the prophecy in book five to say that they both had to die. The movie didn't explain it that way though.. I also always believed that Harry would be the last Horcrux, which, further, confimed my prediction that he would have to die to vanquish Voldy, even though in book six it says something about not making living things Horcruxes. That also explains how Voldy left his mark on Harry.
I really like how she ended it. She didn't really leave it open for a sequel for Harry... but she did allow room for sequels for the kids. I would have liked to know who the new head master was and what jobs Harry, Ron, Hermy, and Ginny ended up with. She told us Neville was a teacher...herbology, but what about the rest. As well as Draco, what did he become?
I am not sure who Victoire is? I am guessing that she is Fluer and Bill's daughter. And who raised Teddy? His grandmother? It said that he was over at the Potter's most of the time but he didn't live there, and if Harry was his Godfather I thought that he would go live with him aftere Lupin and Tonks died. I liked how Harry really didn't have to kill Voldy. He killed himself.
Over all on a scale of 1-10 I would give it an 8 only because it took so long to get into it. I thought Aberforth was dead. And did we see Snape's patronus in one of the other books?
I really hope that she does continue to write these stories. I mean she could start over with year one for let's say Lily or Hugo. And who did Draco marry? Pansy?Edited by author Wed Aug 1, '07 10:22pm PST
