For the Pups Beyond the Rainbow Bridge
(Kay Roth)
For the pups beyond the Rainbow Bridge,
We bow our heads, we shed some tears,
We know that nothing can take the place
Of the furry pals we loved so dear.
And even as the years go by,
A remembered nudge, a lick, a sigh
An old photograph will bring them back,
And tears will fall from many an eye.

We thank the good Lord up above,
For your doggy smile and unconditional love
The way you felt within our arms,
Your bark, your whine, your many charms.
We thank Him for your listening ear
The warmth of your body when you pressed it near.
Is it so surprising really, that you are called DOG.
You're a pretty good reflection of the love of our GOD.

For the pups beyond the Rainbow Bridge,
A voice is heard at bridge's end.
"Well done, true and faithful friend."
Your job and journey is completed on earth.
Play in the flowerfields, bask in the sun...
Chase with your pals and have great fun.
But keep your ears cocked while you're chewing that bone
You'll hear familiar footsteps---your human's come home.

The Greatest Gift
Karla M. Bertram

I always knew this time would come,
From the very instant our eyes first met.
How I loved you then! How I love you now!
I made a promise then and I keep that promise now . . .
You will not suffer from a pain that will not heal;
You will not know the loss of a life remembered, now gone.

It is for me alone to make this decision,
The price for the bright joy and pure laughter
You brought me during the time we shared.
I am the only one who can decide when it is time.
When my hope dies, and my fears ride high,
Just when I need you most, I must let you go.

It is for you alone to tell me when you are ready.
For without your guidance, I will not know
When to lay my grief, my guilt, my anger,
My sorrow and my selfish heart aside
And give you this last gift, this greatest gift.
Your eyes will speak to mine, and I will know.

The pain of this moment is excruciating.
Tears stream down my face in a river of sorrow,
And my heart drowns in a pool of grief.
For you have spoken, and I have listened,
And unlike other decisions I have made.
This one brings no relief . . . no comfort . . . no peace.

For if there's one thing you've taught me,
If there's only one thing I've learned. . . .
Unconditional love has a condition after all,
I must be willing to let you go, when you speak to me
I must be willing to help you go, if you cannot go alone.
And I must accept my pain so you can be free of yours.

Go easily now, go quickly now,
Do not linger here, it is time for you to leave.
Go find your strength, go find your youth.
Go find the ones who've gone before you.
You are free to leave me know, free to let your spirit soar
Rest easy now, your pain will soon be gone.

I pray I will find comfort in my memories . . .
In the dark and lonely days ahead.
I cannot say I will not miss you, I cannot say I will not cry.
For only my tears can heal my broken heart.
But, I promise you this: as long as I live,
You will live, alive in my mind, forever in my heart.

So I give you this last gift, all I have left to give,
And this will be my greatest gift . . . sending you away.
It is the measure of my unconditional love . . .
For only the greatest love can say,
"Good-bye, go find the bridge, we'll meet again,
Loving you has been the greatest gift of all."

I Saw His Soul byCarmella Lofrano

A star punched a hole in the heavens tonight.
A new soul arrived.
Reborn out of its earthly vessel,
Light upon light.
This soul searched for its Maker.
Wisdom. Love was given.
We are taught only humans have souls.
Arrogant. Misled.
My heart bursts with the sadness of separation.
I look up into the sky and I see
A soul I know.
Crystal tears fall.
Sadness and joy flow in and around my heart and soul.
Wisdom. Love is given.
God decides in the creation of souls.
I felt his heart when we met.
I saw his soul when he died.
Creatures both are we.
A star in the heavens, light upon light, cries for me.

Someday-by Gerard Meagher

When I grow too old to dream
I will sit beside this open hearth
And call your name
Remembering through tears
This gentlest creature
Resting at my feet
From deep within
The greying embers
Smouldering into night

A final spark
And you
Sweet dog
That last
Dancing
Flame

MEMORIES --- by John Galsworthy

"Not the least hard thing to bear when
they go from us, these quiet friends,
is that they carry away with them so
many years of our lives. Yet, if they
find warmth therein, who would
begrudge them those years that they
have so guarded? And whatever they take,
be sure they have deserved."

WE ALL NEED A TREE!

I hired a plumber to help me restore an old farmhouse, and after he had
just finished a rough first day on the job: a flat tire made him lose an
hour of work, his electric drill quit and his ancient one ton
truck refused to start.

While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence. On arriving, he
invited me in to meet his family. As we walked toward the front door,
he paused briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the branches with
both hands.

When opening the door he underwent an amazing transformation. His face
was wreathed in smiles and he hugged his two small children and gave
his wife a kiss. Afterward he walked me to the car. We passed the tree and
my curiosity got the better of me. I asked him about what I had
seen him do earlier.

"Oh, that's my trouble tree," he replied, "I know I can't help having
troubles on the job, but one thing's for sure, those troubles
don't belong in the house with my wife and the children... So I just hang
them up on the tree every night when I come home and ask God to take

care of them. Then in the morning I pick them up again."

"Funny thing is," he smiled," when I come out in the morning to pick
'em up, there aren't nearly as many as I remember hanging up the
night before."

THIS ONE IS WORTH SENDING ON
God Bless, Have A Blessed Day!!!

RAINBOW BRIDGE

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...

Subject: rescue poem!

Bye Baby

No more lonely cold nights or hearing that I'm bad
No more growling belly from the meals I never had.
No more scorching sunshine with a water bowl that's dry.
No more complaining neighbors about the noise when I cry.
No more hearing "shut up", "get down" or "get out of here"!
No more feeling disliked, only peace is in the air.
Euthanasia is a blessing, though some still can't see
why I was ever born If I weren't meant to be.
My last day of living was the best I ever had.
Someone held me very close, I could see she was very sad.
I kissed the lady's face, and she hugged me as she cried.
I wagged my tail to thank her, then I closed my eyes and died.

Lend Me A Pup .

I will lend to you a while, a pup, God said, For you to love him while he lives and mourn for him when he's dead.
Maybe for twelve or fourteen years,But will you, 'till I call him back, take care of him for me?

He'll bring his charms to gladden you and (should his stay be brief) you'll always have his memories
as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return ,but there are lessons taught below I want this pup to learn.

I've looked the whole world over in search of teachers true and from the folk crowd's life's land I have chosen you.
Now will you give him all your love Nor think the labor vain, Nor hate me when I come to take my Pup back again.

I fancied that I hear them say "Dear Lord Thy Will be Done," For all the joys this Pup will bring, the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness we'll love him while we may And for the happiness we've known forever grateful
stay But should you call him back much sooner than we've planned, We'll brave the bitter grief that comes,
and try to understand.

If, by our love, we've managed, your wishes to achieve In memory of him we loved, to help us while we grieve,
When our faithful bundle departs this world of strife, We'll have yet another Pup and love him all his life.

God's Garden

God looked around His garden
And He found an empty place
He then looked down upon the earth
And saw your precious face

He put His arms around you
And lifted you to rest;
God' s Garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.

He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain
He knew you' d never ever
Get well on earth again.

So He closed your weary eyelids
And whispered " Peace be thine "
Then He took you up to Heaven
With Hands so gentle and kind.

It broke our hearts to lose you
But you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God welcomed you home.

Heaven

An old man and his dog were walking down this dirt road with fences on both sides, they came to a gate in the fence and looked in, it was nice grassy, woody areas, just what a 'huntin' dog and man would like, but, it had a sign saying 'no trespassing' so they walked on.

Next they came to a beautiful gate with a person in white robes standing there. "welcome to Heaven" he said. The old man was happy and started in with his dog following him. The gatekeeper stopped him. "Dogs aren't allowed, I'm sorry but he can't come with you."

"What kind of Heaven won't allow dogs? If He can't come in, then I will stay out with him. He's been my faithful companion all his life, I can't desert him now."

"Suit yourself, but I have to warn you, the Devil's on this road and he'll try to sweet talk you into his area, he'll promise you anything, but, the dog can't go there either. If you wont leave the dog, you'll spend Eternity on this road."

So the old man and dog went on.

They came to a rundown fence with a gap in it, no gate, just a hole. Another old man was inside. "'Scuse me Sir, my dog and I are getting mighty tired, mind if we come in and sit in the shade for awhile?"

"Of course, there's some cold water under that tree over there. Make yourselves comfortable"

"You're sure my dog can come in? The man down the road said dogs weren't allowed anywhere."

"Would you come in if you had to leave the dog?"

"No sir, that's why I didn't go to Heaven, he said the dog couldn't come in. We'll be spending Eternity on this road, and a glass of cold water and some shade would be mighty fine right about now. But, I won't come in if my buddy here cant come too, and that's final."
The man smiled a big smile and said "Welcome to Heaven."

"You mean this is Heaven? Dogs ARE allowed? How come that fellow down the road said they weren't?"

"That was the Devil and he gets all the people who are willing to give up a life long companion for a comfortable place to stay. They soon find out their mistake, but, then it's too late. The dogs come here, the fickle people stay there. GOD wouldn't allow dogs to be banned from Heaven. After all, HE created them to be man's companions in life, why would he separate them in death?"

Heaven's Doggie Door

My best friend closed his eyes last night,
As his head lay in my hand.
The doctors said he was in pain,
And it was hard for him to stand.
The thoughts that scurried through my head,
As I cradled him in my arms,
Were of his younger puppy years,
And Oh... his many charms.
Today there was no gentle nudge,
With an intense "I love you" gaze.
Only a heart that's filled with tears,
Remembering our joy-filled days.
But an Angel just appeared to me,
And said, "You should cry no more,
God also loves our canine friends,
He's installed a doggy door!"
