VISHUS DEER ALERT for GOSHEN, NY (Orange County- approx 68 miles NW of NYC) November 24, 2006 4:00 PM (EST)
Just a few short moments ago, 7 visus deer were spotted passing through my yard. None of these deer had the skewer weapons on their heads and I did NOT see the little one who was scouting my yard the other day.
They paid no attention to me as I watched them through one of the many new windows of my house. They seemed to be on a mission and their determination frightened me. If I had not been protected inside my house behind thick, vishious deer-proof glass, I would have run for my life. They were obviously up to no good.
They headed West following the sun and towards the neighboring horse farm, a KNOWN hideout and residence for the neighborhood strays and outdoor cats.
By the time mom saw them, it was too late to do any practical study of them- they disappeared one by one into the corn next to our yard.
Mom thinks that since the corn fields border BOTH our property AND the land where the horses grow, the vishus deer use it as cover to attack the barn kitties AND to study me and Gordy (the young and juicy one) through the glass that thay can not penetrate.
New Theories:
Could it be possible that by watching THEM, I am putting my feline brothers and sisters at risk??? Is it possible that the vishus deer are studying ME the way I am studying THEM so that THEY may learn OUR tactics???
One one hand, I don't think they have the advanced intelligence that we kitties have to make this type of learned connection. On the other hand, *CAN* they learn by trial and error??? They learned how to heard us kitties and direct us to the skewers... The little one *seemed* to be frightened by the fact that mom was unaffected by it's hypnosis attack...
Mom and I WILL continue to study the vishus deer when I believe that they do not know I am watching them. Until I can prove that they CAN'T learn OUR skills of avoidance, I will be certain to remain out of sight- say an upstirs window or I will just rely on mom and her reports and sightings.
*UPDATE*
I am STILL convinced she is safe to be around and NOT hypnotized as of this report.
Best of luck to all our kitty brothers and sisters who face this very real danger everyday.
Good nooz, the hunters in Wiskonsin kilt a bunch of vishus deers this yer. I'm not sayin yoo shood let yur gard down yet, jus selebraten the little triumfs. We still need to be vijalent lest (dats a big werd) we get to complasent (anoffur big werd) and loose any kitties to the menas of da vishus deer.
Another thing I think us kitties should be concerned with is vishus rabbits!
Some humans allow those furry dust bunnies to live in our homes, and the vishus rabbits try to take a bite out of our hind quarters! Watch this video!
Oh my, now I'm worried! There are lots of our fellow kitties who live with bunnys, and bunnys have been to a lot of kittie partys. Are we in danger? Um, maybe those are just a couple of scaredy cats and a bunny that a little "ah-gres-ive". I sure hope we don't hafta be afraid of the bunnys in our lives.
I would be afraid... they have laser eyes and big teeth just like those vishus deer! I've seen many videos that show rabbits attacking poor little kitties!
This is what they look like before they attack: http://blogs.knoxnews.com/knx/silence/archives/killer.jpg

My mom said that she had a rabbit as a kid and it chomped down on her wrist while she was feeding it. I think they are vishus!
All of these reports of vishus deer got me really worried - so I asked Daddy to tell me everything that he knew about vishus deer. Daddy said: "Yes Louis, deer can be vishus, but you don't have to worry 'cause we live downtown and vishus deer don't live downtown. If we lived closer to the outskirts of downtown, then you'd have to be worried."
Pheww!!
If any cat needs a safe place to go, even for a little bit, just to relax and get away from the fear of vishus deer, I suggest vakashoning at a furriends place that lives downtown. Any cat is welcome here, I haven't told Daddy that I've extended this invitashon yet, but I'm sure he doesn't mind! Just come to the small-apartment-building-on-this-side-of-the-street-at-the-top-of-th e-hill-where-you-can-see-the-big-tower-at-the-bottom. I'll be watching for you from kitchen window where I can also stay on guard just in case any vishus deer try to come into downtown.
