Well, I'm entering this conversation about a month late, but have to put in my two cents. I'm always happy to find another fan of "Alice In Wonderland," and especially someone who loves that particular exchange between Alice and the Cheshire Cat. It can apply in so many situations!

The Cheshire Cat is of course a favorite character of mine. I agree that these feline supporting characters add something special to whatever story they're in. Zoe, you've listed some good ones - I'll see if I can come up with others.

and then there are our wild family members. just take the jungle book - it was a joke without the grey eminence shere khan or the boy's best friend bagheera.
