Okay, my dad moved us from California to Pennsylvania. I had to go in an airplane in a box-thing. I didn't see Dad the whole time. Boy was I glad to see him in Pittsburgh!

I was super-scared though. When we got to the new house I hid. He didn't see me for days! I saw him, because I'm a good hider. He wasn't worried because I would sneak out when no one was around to eat or use the box, so he knew I wasn't sick, but I hid for days! It was about a week before I came out on my own!

Xander, how scary that must have been! I don't know if I would have handled it half as well as you did!

I think the longest I ever hid for was for three months. I hid in the loft in our house where there is lots of nice places for me to feel safe. I had a litter box up there and mom would set my food and water dish up there every day so when the coast was clear, I could eat and drink. Occasionally, I'd sneak a peek downstairs but then I'd quickly retreat. I hid for so long because mom and papa moved in together and I was not familiar with the new house and the resident cats and dog that lived there.

Okay, there's nothing to be ashamed about if you hide! Be proud to be a Scaredy Cat! Here's another hiding story!

One time when I was smaller, my dad came home and the maintenance guy had been in the appartment. He looked everywhere and couldn't find me! He got really upset because he thought the guy had left the door open and I got out! He said a lot of really bad words. After a few hours of ranting and anger, I let out a tiny squeek. Then I came out. He was mad that I hadn't said anything when he called, but he was even more glad to see me, so there was a great deal of hugging and rubbing for me!

The longest I ever hid was 3 or 4 days and it was just after me, Hope and Gracie were trapped. My mom had to keep us separate until we were blood tested, but we were all semi-feral so while the girls just shook, there was one time when I was able to escape and I shot into the bedroom and under the bed. It is a queen size, I was only 3 months old, of course everyt ime she moved to get me I ran to the other side. So she gave up. She cleared all the other cats out, and just let me stay there. I would not eat for her for two days, it was hard to tell if I took water and I didnt use the box either. I ripped a hole in the boxspring and climbed in there. After four days she had enough, she took the bed apart, and began flipping the box spring up, slowly cutting the fabric, she had me trapped in a corner and scruffed me. And just held me for as long as I could stand it back in the bathroom. She asked to please never do that again. I still hide, but not like that....and she cut all the fabric off the box spring too.

My sister Trinity is not a scaredy cat, but when she was 3 months old she did the same thing as you Calvin, she hid and did not come out when my mom called for her. It was just mom and her at the time so she freaked out and started moving furniture and crying and calling my grandma.....then after 25 minutes Trinity came out of inside the under part of the convertible sofa instead of just being behind it or under the open part in the front. My mother was terrified, she picked her up and cuddled and kissed her for a long time.

I used to hide for hours whenever my cousins came over. They're small humans and they run around making noise and trying to pick you up. Bob was brave and never hid -- he just climbed on top of the fridge where they couldn't get him. Rufus will do anything for food so he let himself be caught on more than one occasion! They never caught me though, and could never find my hiding spots either.

The time I scared Momma the most was the first time we moved. She didn't have any furniture moved yet, but she still couldn't find me. She looked everywhere inside the apartment, in the hallways, outside. She had neighbors looking for me and everything.
I had found the perfect hiding spot -- a hole in the baseboard that led behind the dishwasher. I would still be there if my tattletale brother hadn't shown Momma where I was. The snitch! Momma dragged me out by the scruff and had the mean maintenance man block the hole.

The longest I ever hid was for aout 8 hours. Mum had the plumber over and he left the apartment door open as he was going back and forth to his truck. Unfortunately as it had been raining the front door did not shut all the way - its an old house and te wood was warped. After he left mum expected me to come out of hiding but I didn't she couldn't find me anywhere, then she remembered the doors! Well the old house was three stories and a basement, there are tons of nooks and crannies and a porch and back door to get out of. After searching for hours mum had to call her work to tell them she was going to be late as she couldn't leave without finding me first. When she finally found me I had crawled behind an old sink on the second floor in the back of the house but I ran from her! Mum was afraid I had snuck outside and called dad to come help her find me. Eventually I was caught hiding in the basement ceiling rafters but what a fuss! Mum ended up not going to work after all because by the time she got me back her shift was almost over! So that was my mega fun adventure that gave mum and dad a heart attack!

Sometimes I stay really quiet when dad is looking for me. He walks right past where I'm hiding! I don't make a sound until he sees me first, then I start eeeping and squeaking!
