 | | | | Daily toothbrushing Teeth need to be brushed daily to remove bacteria and plaque buildup and food partciles, whether it's a Human or a cat or a dog Even everyother day brushing or omce a week brushing, if you can manage that, is better than not brushing at all.
Here's a video of how to brush a cat's teeth: http://partnersah.vet.cornell.edu/pet/fhc/brushing_teeth Use only pet toothpaste and a pet toothbrush or finger brush.
Water additivies don't do anything, IMO. Cats don't drink enough water from a bowl of fountain for a water additive to have any effect. A couple licks a few times a day won't help
There are dental rinses but many cats don't like having stuff squirted into their mouths.
Then there are dental treats and chews, even special (junk-filled) dry food. Most don't work because most cats just swallow the pieces whole CET dental chews are the only ones I would suggest. They're pretty big pieces so a cat has to chew on it to break it up into easy to swallow pieces.
And there's the way a cat would do in the wild: gnaw on some raw meats and organs and bones from prey. Poultry necks and gizzards bought from the Human supermarket or butcher shop work well. Some cats will not touch raw because they are so used to eat commerical pet foods and do not recognize raw as food. | | | | |
