Humane Traps?

This is a special section for cats needing new homes and for inspiring stories of cats that have found their furever home through Catster or through the love and energy of rescuers. Does anyone know if any agency/rescue in the Phoenix, AZ area will lend/allow us to borrow humane traps? There is a stray and her 4 kittens that we are feeding-would like to get all trapped/neutered/returned before we are overrun with cats!

We searched "Animal Resuce - Phoenix, AZ and about five or six different groups came up, including the local SPCA. We had borrowed human traps from a rescue group in a suburb of New Orleans. Hope this is of some help, I am not "tech savy" enough to post all the links, but there were both public and private rescue groups.

Good luck, and bless you for wanting to help these cats and kittens. Here in the Greater New Orleans area local shelters and rescue groups are having a "Fix A Feline" program during the month of June. Feral and "owned cats can can be spayed or neutered on one of six animal hopsitals. Cost for ferals is FREE, and $10 if it is an owned cat. We wish this could be done all over the U.S. to help animal lovers spay and neuter cats.

Keep us posted - and one suggestion that worked when I trapped feral cats for the Spay/Neuter program - bait the traps with the cheap tuna in oil....the smell really draws the cats in.

Thanks, New Orleans-we'll keep searching. I talked with the AZ Humane Society-they were of little help, unfortunately...said that "some (?) feed stores" rent traps-but they didn't know which stores, or where they were located. Disappointing, as one would think that they would keep a listing of these places.
