Gizmo

| Purred: Tue Nov 10, '09 8:18am PST | | | | | | He's only five? That isn't even old! Poor little guy, I read his profile . We adopted Gizmo at 7, I don't see any reason why Fluffy shouldn't be able to find a home. If I lived in the area and was allowed another cat (apartment living) I'd consider him for sure.
for rescuing the sweet little guy. Once he gains some health and confidence he should be incredibly adoptable. Good luck to both of you.

Mom says I'm- bee-yooo-ti-ful!

| Purred: Tue Nov 10, '09 9:45am PST | | | | | | There are people who seek out older cats because they don't want to deal with the kitten phase, or because they see the value of a mature cat. Granted, it seems like there are fewer of those adopters than the ones who want kittens, but they are out there.
I'd have no problem adopting a cat of any age as long as I fell in love with him or her.

I'm Mom's- special knitting- helper! |
| Purred: Tue Nov 10, '09 3:24pm PST | | | | | | Some folks do want an adult kitty - and at 5 Fluffy isn't old! We had a brother Fluffy, too who was a neighborhood stray/semi feral kitty at our old house. Mom finally won him over, and he walked in the house to stay, but was very head-shy and hated loud noises. He was somebody's pet at one time, and the vet thinks he may have been abused. He had four good years with us before he went to the Bridge.
Bless you for taking him in, and to the people who dumped him and the others at PSP.

gotts the 'tude- of the torti |
| Purred: Wed Nov 11, '09 5:35am PST | | | | | | very few people want adults. Its because of lack of education. they think if they have kids/other cats/dogs they HAVE to get a kitten so it can "grow up" with the family. Which isnt allways the best bet.
ive had kittens who grew up with people since they were born and they NEVER got use to kids, or like being held. ive heard people "complain" (i used a differnt word for what they do lol) about how they got a kitten and it bit there kid, it wont be held...well yeah its a kitten! its a BABY.
also they think if they have another cat they need a kitten. also not the best bet all the time. I know my adult cats would rather another adult then a kitten bugging them 24/7.
We need to work together in educating people that adult cats make better pets then kittens for some familys. it also helps kittens who dont fit into family life avoid being dumped at the pound because they are "mean" to the kids.
I get tired of hearing "well my kid wants a kitten" well cats were once kittens to... id take a cat over a kitten anyday. less stress.

Namerovsky
From a- distinguished- line of tabby- cats |
| Purred: Wed Nov 11, '09 7:59am PST | | | | | | When I got Namerovsky, I didn't want an older cat because my previous cat had died and it was just too sad to go through that too soon.
That said, I didn't want a kitten (he wasn't one), and a five year old would have been fine. When I got to the shelter, he chose us and I didn't even ask about his age until after. I don't think it would have mattered.
Maybe they should stop putting ages up - and let people fall in love and then tell them.
