 | | | | Size is not always a determining feature for Maine Coons. The females are markedly smaller than the males. Harvey has the classic Maine Coon facial/body configuration (long torso, sturdy legs) but has a tummy problem (yes, we keep meaning to get this checked out--my regular vet doesn't think it's a problem, but we do want to see a specialist...sigh...), and is built like a ferret. He only weighs 13 pounds. But he IS big--just not heavy. And he is a purebred Maine Coon, and there's no doubt about his ancestry. Leila is on the slim side, too, but with that fantastic long torso, but Chibi, who has a shorter torso and tail, but better facial features, is getting quite heavy. Fur length also differs from cat to cat--there's a wonderful cat on the circuit right now who would be considered a domestic short hair if he didn't have papers. But a beautiful cat, and if you know MCs, you know he's the real thing. | | | | |
