Got a new, young, furry love in your life? This is the place for you to ask all of your questions - big or small! Just remember that you are receiving advice from other cat owners and lovers... not professionals. If you have a major problem, always seek the advice of a vet or behaviorist! Most important is to remember to have fun with your new fur baby.

Thanks for the advice!

Prince is booked to see the vets tomorrow to get a micro chip and neutered. He has actually calmed down a lot since my last post but I think I'll think I'll do it now. I have this week off so at least I can look after him. There are too many cats in the back garden not to have him neutered. I am scared he may change but even if he does I will love him all the same!

Prince had his neuter yesterday. After an initial grumpy and sleepy few hours when coming home (I would be too) he is fine. He has not changed one little bit! I thought he would become more cuddly but not yet, that will come over time! So if you have any worries, don't!

My kitten was spayed @ 9 weeks old (2Lbs). I adopted her from the MSPCA and they do it as early as 8 weeks if their healthy (as long as their 2Lbs which she wasn't until the 9 weeks). Literally about half hour after surgery she was up and running around. I personally loved that she got it while she was smaller bc the incision was so small (minimal stitches needed!) and the recovery time was so short. She didn't even need a cone we just had to watch her especially the first few days and just distracted her when we noticed her trying to lick it. I think many vets won't do it that early but 4 months especially if he's exhibiting signs of sexual maturity should be totally fine.

After getting spayed, my behaviour/attitude changed, but only for the better. I am now a lot more affectionate. My owners tried to make me wear the "cone of shame", but that didn't really go as planned. Don't lick & bite your wound, or your owners will get mad and make you wear the cone!

they tell me thats what happened when I went to the vet but I don't remember, I was sleepin. I was 4 1/2 months. they stole my grapes, but I don't notice nothin different. I still eat and run and play. I was up playin the next day and right back to myself. Actually, mommy said that I was back to being a little imp that night. I stole the BUBs food and was playing with my brothers tails and botherin them.

I barely noticed anything, nor did mommy or daddy!

I know this is an old post... but most changed in behavior won't be seen until a few weeks later when their hormones finally dwindle down!

Also, each cat seems to reach maturity at their own pace. We had a female who we didn't get spayed until she was over a year and she'd had only two heat cycles by that point. *shrugs*

With Corbin, our new kitten, he was spayed by NHS as soon as he reached 2# and he's only 8 weeks old.
