I'm thinking he's a domestic short-hair mixed with calico and bengal, but I'm not too sure. I live in Michigan, got him from a girl who posted an ad online, trying to find homes for some kittens. His mom who lived at the house was a calico and the dad I know nothing about (I'm assuming he was some wild cat homeless in Detroit.) There were a few girl kittens looking similar to the mom-cat who was white with patches of orange/black. The two boys (including my cat Dexter) were white with patches/spots/stripes of brown/black/cream. Take a look at his picture I've posted in his profile. Any clue as to what he could be mixed would be greatly appreciated...

Why would you think he's mixed with anything? Bengals are part wild cat and are hardly ever bred in a way they can create mixes. He looks like a great tabby and white to me. (Like Nems!)

Calico is a color, not a breed. My color is calico!

And cats that are strays, feral-born, or otherwise of unknown origin, are Domestic Shorthairs (or Longhairs or Mediumhairs, if they have a longer coat.)

You are a domestic shorthair, and your coloring is brown tabby and white. wave

He is a brown mackerel tabby and white. Mackerel, because his strips are vertical, like fish bones.

Like Helene said, being that he is of unknown parentage, he is considered a domestic shorthair.

The white, is most likely from his momma, who you said, is a calico, which is a color. His daddy, is most likely, a tabby, which is a pretty common color, but, kittens in the same litter, can have multiple daddys.

And to further confuse you, mol, if the kitten is a calico, it is most likely a female, it is extremly rare that a calico is a male, and if it is, he is sterile.

most bengels are at least 4 generations away from asian leopard cat and most can certinly breed. but as you can see in Genies picture, they have a distinct look.

Sorry folks, but most cats are DSH. Rarly does any have mixed blood with purebred. Cats arnt like dogs in this sense, purebred cats rarely are let to roam outside to breed.

Heh I was joking. But really, people shouldn't be disappointed...I wish we could move away from the idea that 'purebred is better.' happy dance

it's not better, but it's not worse either. and sometimes it's useful to know if there's something not quite so diluted in the gene pool. i host an outside momcat who can't be too far removed from siamese ancestry...body type, crossed eyes, kinked tail, personality, vocal nature, very people-oriented if the people is limited to me-other humans have not been kind.
this was useful for me when i started homing her kittens-long story short on why i haven't had her spayed yet: she will get in my lap, but i risk body parts if i try to put her in a carrier, and i haven't found anyone who will lend me a humane trap yet. i adopted one-jadyn. when she proved to have the same "meezer" personality characteristics, i was able to extrapolate that i needed to scout for homes that could handle that. in other words, people who can't put up with a chatty kitty who wants/craves human interaction on a fairly intense scale need not apply-in this case, it's genetic.
in this case of the OP...i admit to being fairly amazed by those radar dishes...i mean, ears. and the small, angular face configuration along with those amazing ears? anyone want to take a guess?
