 |  |  |  | It's interesting, but the absolute generic tabby, like Spike, are called brown tabbies rather than grey--even though they are grey. Silver tabbies, in the cat world, are a totally different being. I can't really see the difference, but this, again, is according to the ever-changing breed standards for cats. What I DO know with confidence, is that in the American Shorthair rings, brown tabbies really are brown. This causes me to scratch my head, but your average "tabby" is grey but classified as brown, while a brown show cat is actually brown, and very beautiful. Breed aside, coloration is often debated. Spike is a totally generic cat, but although he is grey, he is officially a brown tabby. Go figure. |  |  |  |  |
