|Today I went to the specialist with my mom. The hospital was very fancy and busy. The doctor took me in the back right away and dilated my pupils (man, that was weird!) so she could look to make sure there is no damage to my eyes. My eyes are completely fine!
Then, the doctor did a neurological exam, and, besides the blindness, she found no abnormalities! This made my mom very happy. The doctor said that the blindness was most likely caused by hypoxia (lack of oxygen to the brain) that occurred during the anesthesia. This could have been the result of a pre-existing condition, like a liver shunt, or low blood pressure which could have been a reaction to the gas itself or the ace. She said that 50% of the cats she's seen with this condition completely recover, while some recover some vision, and some don't recover at all. She was optimistic about me since I have never had a brain problem or seizure before, and she said that I just need to wait it out. She gave me a time frame of 2-6 weeks and told my mom that she is doing everything right to take care of me. We just need some time and some prayers! My mom and I will keep you posted on my progress!
