|I came down with a cold on Sunday last week and started taking meds. My brother seemed perfectly fine so my parents were comfy having to leave us for a couple of days to go to a funeral.
When they got back, I was doing better but Mika was sick, but not the same way I was. He was gagging and wouldn't eat, but no signs of a "cold".
When mommy took him to the doctor on Friday morning she thought she would be bringing him straight home. They advised that he stay there while they run some tests.
They have done everything they can think of and still don't know what's causing it. The doctor called early this morning to tell us that late last night he had to perform an emergency tracheotomy because he was having trouble breathing, and while he got him stabilized and comfortable, he suggested that first thing Monday morning they take him to the university hospital for a CT scan to hopefully find out what's causing this nightmare. The doctor said that despite how frightened and uncomfortable he must be, Mika is being very calm and sweet.
Mommy cried for over three hours straight when she got that call. I think it was, mostly, that the doctor had reminded her of what it is that makes Mika so special... he's only two years old but extremely affectionate and tolerant... very laid back and sweet. She would like nothing better than to sit with him day and night holding his paw while he gets better so that he can have some comfort from home.
We are all very distraught that every time the doctor calls the news isn't good. It's very discouraging and we're trying to reserve as much hope as we can that he will make it through this. All of your support helps so very much when mommy is crying for her baby. And I am doing my very best to get better so I can be there to comfort her, too.
Please see our reply on the fourth page of this thread. Thank you.
