	My daughter took her 10-week old kitten, Sophie, to the vet for a routine check-up and scheduled kitten shots. The vet told her that she should not be feeding her, or any other cat, Greenies because they could cause potentially fatal problems with the digestive system. My old boy Clyde loves Greenies. He hasn't had them for a while, because he was getting a bit tired of them. Now I'm reluctant to start giving them to him and my other cats again. What do any of you know about this? Would it be safe to start giving them Greenies again? Or should I give them other treats. Since Clyde is an old cat, his appetite isn't what it should be and I want to encourage him to eat - even feline junk food - I just don't want that junk food to kill him.

	The problem with Greenies is that they are formulated to be so hard and crunchy that they can become virtually indigestible in great numbers. I still give the cats a taste of Greenies every once in a while because my cats get too picky about other treats after a while, but I break one into bits (1/3 or less) and give them out sparingly (as in "It's only one tiny piece of this green thing... but you can have tons of good for you treats too, they're right over there. No really."

	I'm pretty sure they changed the formula and I use them all the time cause the cats love them! and no problems at all

	Greenies in the form of dog treats did kill some dogs, as it did get stuck in their digestive system. I have not heard of this happening to cats yet. Though I will say that this" junk food" is just that... "junk", sorry, but if you look at the ingredients it is not something that an obligate carnivore should eat, even as a treat. There are other treats out there that are much healthier, Wellness jerky treats, and Halo liv alittles, and Bonito flakes are to name a few. Just look at the ingredients. The first 3 ingredients should have a named meat listed, and there should be no artificial colorings, or BHT/BHA

	I just did a quick search and there have been problems with Greenies Greenies click here Also you can google Feline Greenies dangers and you'll find more problems... Plus, the ingredients are just like dry food: lots & lots of grains, etc. I went to their site and it said something like "oat fiber scrubs the teeth." A tooth brush shaped treat???
