| Purred: Thu Jul 2, '09 3:26pm PST | | | | | | For the past few months I've been giving Sprinkles high quality dry foods, I tend to rotate between natural balance, innova, and eagle pack. My friend who's more obsessed with cat nutrition than I am, hammered into my head the importance of lots of wet food, she said even a average grade canned food is better than a high grade dry. So I might start giving her high quality dry in the morning and average quality canned in the evenings since I can't afford to feed a lots of the top notch canned.
I was wondering if these canned brands were acceptable. And before you flip over and die when you see the brand, I read the ingredients on these specific formulas and they don't seem all that bad to me, you can look up the ingredients on petfooddirect.com and see if you think so too.
*Meow mix wholesome goodness(no by products which surprised me)
*Fancy feast appetizers and fancy feast fish and shrimp
*Tiki cat
*Sheba
*Pro plan selects(not including the beef and brown rice, it has meat by products)

Monkey-pie |
| Purred: Thu Jul 2, '09 6:41pm PST | | | | | | For what it's worth, I don't think that's terrible. Everyone has to make choices about what is right for their own pets and their budget. Isabelle gets some of the Fancy Feast varieties (there are certain flavors/formulas that are better than others), plus either Wellness, Taste of the Wild, or Before Grain dry food. | | | | |

I Love Turkey!

| Purred: Thu Jul 2, '09 7:50pm PST | | | | | | Hi Sprinkles I happen to agree with Isabelle. We acknowledge that there are higher quality wet foods out there, but some of us won't touch those brands because we just don't like the taste We feed some of the gluten-free flavors of Fancy Feast, Natural Balance, Friskies, and some of the less expensive wet foods mainly because those are the brands we will actually eat. We also eat high quality grain-free dry food. We think variety and rotation of different foods is important. | | | | |

Just say NO to- KIBBLE KRACK! |
| Purred: Thu Jul 2, '09 10:37pm PST | | | | | | Hi Sprinkles here is a list of lower costing canned foods that do not have gluten in them and are low in carbs. There are a few of the Fancy feast ones aswell that have no gluten you just have to read the label. Please note that the following brands are only certain flavours.
I personally would not feed the meow mix wet.
Whiskas Savory Ground pate - Chicken dinner, Mealtime, Bits 0 beef, Turkey and Giblets,( not Whiskas in gravy) The savory ground is vegetable and grain free.
9 Lives - Chicken dinner, Chicken and Tuna dinner, Turkey dinner, Chicken & Seafood dinner, Liver &Bacon Dinner, Prime grill with Beef.
Friskies- Supreme Supper, mixed grill, Country style dinner, Poultry platter, Turkey and Giblets dinner.
Pro Plan- Adult Chicken& liver entree, adult Turkey & Giblets entree

Sherriff Hobie- does not- approve! |
| Purred: Fri Jul 3, '09 11:24am PST | | | | | | We've given our kitties the Wholesome Goodness, none fish flavors in the past. I was happy with it. It made Hobie in particular very picky though, so we cut back on the wet. Only the Wholesome Goodness line is acceptable though, it has meat as the first several ingredients and no fillers or by-products. Here are the chicken and beef ingredients:
Chicken broth, chicken, beef, vegetables (carrots and peas), vegetable oil, food starch modified, natural & artificial flavors, tricalcium phosphate, cane sugar, guar gum, salt, calcium sulfate, carrageenan, choline chloride, parsley, minerals (magnesium oxide, ferrous sulfate monohydrate, zinc oxide, manganese sulfate monohydrate, copper proteinate, sodium selenite, potassium iodide), taurine, vitamins (vitamin E supplement, thiamine mononitrate, niacin, calcium pantothenate, riboflavin supplement, vitamin a supplement, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), folic acid, menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of vitamin K activity), biotin, vitamin D3 supplement, vitamin B12), potassium chloride, sodium nitrite (to promote color retention).

On the Prowl.... |
| Purred: Tue Jul 7, '09 11:39am PST | | | | | | I used to feed high quality grain free foods ONLY and was a food snob about it. After I moved out and was laid off.... things changed. I have been feeding Authority and Blue Buffalo canned food and so far everything has been alright. I am hoping things will get better soon and I can go back to wellness and EVO. But for now they are doing ok on a lower quality food. All 3 of my dogs are on raw and its been cheaper than a grain free kibble but the cats were very hard to feed raw and Cheetah attacked my hand one too many times for it. So, this has worked out for us. | | | | |

Benjamin
Itty Bitty Kitty |
| Purred: Wed Jul 8, '09 4:37pm PST | | | | | | I have been feeding Ben canned Wellness, but to be honest, i'm not all that thrilled with it. Gives him terrible gas. All of the other 'higher grade' canned, he doesn't like. I want to give him some canned, but nothing I try seems to really agree with him. | | | | |
