"Flavorful chew toy"?!? eek (I wish they had an emoticon for "I wanna puke.") Can you just imagine the little bits of chicken skin, flesh, and fat (chicken feet have lots of fat) that would be strewn all over the house? laugh out loud That's worse than my childhood chicken heart fetish.

"Clip their toenails"?!? Har har har!!! laugh out loud

(Have we been dipping into the catnip recently or something?)

Mom used to make me and my little ones something called "Glop", appetizing name, hey? Well, it is actually really really good!!! Here is the recipe:

12oz of water
1 envelope Knox Gelatin
1 12oz can of whole evaporated milk (not skim) OR CAT MILK!!!
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons plain yogurt, not nonfat
Boil the water, add the gelatin - stir well. Add the following ingredients in order, mixing well after each addition:

1/2 of the canned milk
mayonnaise and yogurt
the rest of the milk

Some recipes call for canned goats milk; if you have it readily available it's fine, otherwise canned ševaporated cows' milk works well. The recipe sets up to a gelatin-like consistency in the refrigerator, and can be stored there for up to two weeks. It can also be frozen in an ice tray for convenience in serving. To serve, warm to room temperature. Do not pour back unused portions into the mix.

It makes a really nice cool treat!

Yes, that glop recipe has been floating around on the Internet, usually as something to give undernourished ferals, etc. I was thinking of trying it for Harvey, who's lost serious weight on his wet diet, but the recipes I saw called for "real" mayonnaise, which I suspect is Hellman's and not Kewpie, and I don't shop in stores where they sell Hellman's mayonnaise. Furthermore, I don't cook (this because I'm lazy and don't have the time, not because of lack of ability). But, mainly, I just can't imagine my cats going for something that tastes like mayonnaise. If you try it and they like it, let me know!

Hi again y'all - well, my skinmom tried the glop - it was a bit on the sweet side. She and dad made it for me when my babies were being weaned. They thought i looked pretty worn out (i WAS!) and wanted to take some of the stress off of me and get those little ones to eat on their own. All of us really liked the taste (especially me!!!).

Hmmm, i could go for some right now!
