Hi Shadow! No I'm a 1 year old kitty and in good health. Meowmie is wondering what the long term effects will be on the kidneys with this dry. She thought the better the food with more meat the better the quality and healthier it would be for me. Would hate to eat this and have problems in the future if something can be done about it now. I also eat Weruva wet along with my EVO. How can you tell if you are doing something right from wrong shrug with all these kitty foods. To much information sometimes it gets confusing *meow*

Meowmie has that other site as one of her favorites also. Thank you!

I know its a tough world out there to know what to feed. All I do is think ok what would my cat eat naturally in the wild? I do not feed raw so the next best thing is a high protein low carb wet food. My 2 cats have been on this diet for almost a year now, and have lost weight that they needed to and got rid of the struvite crystals, they are happy and healthy. It might be more expensive, but that means less trips to the vet, so that saves money. I myself do not agree with dry food, to me it is all just candy. Dry food is cooked at such a high temp. that it destroys any nutrition in the food if any, then its sprayed with a highly attractive stuff so that the kittys will actually like it. I do however give my cats dry Evo as a treat (only a few kibble a day).

What if your cats would rather starve themselves than eat anything even vaguely healthy, wet or dry? I'm going crazy...

mol spot, Im so sorry you are going through this, but at least they will eat something, its better than nothing. I never had a problem switching my 2 from royal canin dry to Strictly Wellness wet, guess they just arent that picky, but I remember that I did put some parmesan cheese on top at first to get them to really lick it up, but don't have to do that anymore. Im going a bit crazy to with the pet food, I just want to give them more variety, but cant find anything else other than Wellness and Evo, and Im concerned about the potato in the Wellness, as this does raise their blood sugar level. There is not much grain free low carb food out there frown
I would try mixing the friskies wet with the premium brand though and see if that works and just gradually get rid of the friskies. Also the fancy feast gluten free ones are ok, but those small cans would be to costly for me, when my cats only eat wet food.

About 20 yrs ago mom had 2 cats that would eat Friskies but then stopped eating it.So she tried Meow mix, they ate that for awhile, then she tried purina cat chow which they liked sort of.Now thinking back she realized that those 2 cats knew those pet foods were not good for them.As of right now all 10 of us have 1/2 of a bag of Purina Cat Chow indoor formula left ,she read the ingredients and was like eek. We know the switch to a better food is coming!

One more thing; Her Aunty used to cut up liver and chicken for all of her 18 cats every morning 30 + yrs ago.Her Aunt said raw meat was good for them.We are all on cloud 9

Thank you for clearing up the "chicken" as first ingredient vs. "chicken meal" being 1st--i hadn't known the "meal" was actually MORE nutritious than the former just plain chicken itself!

I posted yesterday on the Brit page going through a feeding quandary with my l'il cat family---so i won't go through it again{lol}...

...but thank you.
