wave Oooh another breed before meow focus shift again (many distractionz furr a yound kitty like meow).

A "medium" haired "Russian Blue" is also called a Nebelung.

I have z "ghost tabby" on meow furr, maybe you haz too???

Nebelungs happen very rarely on Russian bluesz pure lines (but still do happen) butta will happen if a Russian Bluez cross wit a Domestic Kitty... so sayz z standardz:

http://www.nebelung.nl/nebelung_standard.html

Do you also appear to "glow" from a certain light angle due to your double coat (short dense furr & a longer tipped furr zat appear silvery but iz actually z same color)???

Are you also an even tempered kitty likey me who is juz laid back and never play aggressive even if active.

Dunno????shrug

Butta you could also bez a cousin to z Russian Blue.kitty

Still....

We z blues are z greatest und most beautiful cats methink.little angel

I've had two Russian Blue mixes in my adult lifetime -- Coopurr and Felix before him. One of the Russian Blue traits that they both had is the "smile." Their mouths are literally upturned, and they appear to be smiling all the time! big grin

I have a close-up of Coop as his main pic. You can see his "smile" pretty well. I just think it's the most endearing thing about them -- and true to the breed. They really are sweet, happy cats!

I think that he's mainly just a Russian Blue. British Shorthairs are supposed to be very cobby with rounded heads, whereas Russian Blues are more slender and wedge headed usually. There was once a British Shorthair in our house, and he was usually quiet unless he wanted food or something. He was also very cobby, however really sweet and cuddly.

Ok, I have to jump in here. What do you all think I am? Mom always said Russian Blue because of my color, but I'm not slender (more like "robust"big grin) I have a rounded head and green eyes. My brofur looks almost exactly like me, green eyes and all, but he's more slender. 'Course, I don't know that he's my biological brofur; Mom rescued both of us as we were hanging around her barn.

Oh, you're a cute kitty! And I love your extra toes!!!

You do have the Russian Blue ears. You might be a mix with one of the larger breeds. But you definitely have the eyes and the coloring.

Blue Mixes ROCK! (Meowm's not sure what I'm mixed with...MOL!)

Shadow, what you look like is a combination of a Chautruau and a British Shorthair. You have a rounded head and are overall built bigger and more muscular than a Russian Blue, however your fur color seems to be more along the lines of a Chautruau cat. The Chautruau looks slightly cobby with a rounded head, less so however than a British Shorthair. The fur is a perfect, light blue, almost baby blue. Look at the facts and decide. I personally think that you are a Chautrueu, possibly a pure-bred! If you read this, thought about it, and your still having a hard time deciding which to put on your profile, you can either ask me or you can always write a mix of both.

Oh, wow - thanks for all the info! If I may ask, Coopurr, what are "Russian Blue ears"? Mine are all scalloped; Mom figures it's from the fights I used to get into over the ladies. wink

A Chautruau? Mom's never heard of that breed, so she'll do some research and learn even more. I *am* cobby (otherwise known as "sturdy" big grin). I doubt that I'm purebred, but it's neat to know that I *could* be.

Thank you so much, Coopurr and Misty; we've learned something, Mom and I!

Shadow, I'm sorry but I think I may have miss spelled the breed name. It is spelled like "Chartreux". The breed is also always solid, and they are short and fairly stalky. Good luck!

Thank you for clarifying, Misty; Mom wondered if maybe you'd misspelled. At any rate, in spite of my green eyes, I know now that I look more like a Chartreux than a Russian Blue. I do have some white: a white spot on my chest (which shows in my pics) and white in each of my "armpits." (I like to sleep on my back sometimes. laugh out loud

Mom and I have learned something, and we're very grateful. Thanks to both of you, Misty and Coopurr!way to go
