How did everyone get there cat and why did you name them the name you did?

	punkin was sold to an animal blood service lab as a year old cat from the animal control. she gave her blood in service for 7 years! 7 years she was kept as nothing more but a money maker. she was put up for adoption after she was retired. no one wanted her for whatever reason for 2 years she stayed in a small room with many many cats. She was grossly overweight. I saw her picture on petfinder and there was a connection. i had to have her. it was october, and she was round, so i called her punkin.

	i have had moggies all my life, and i wanted to get a purebred to take to the cat show. i finally was able to get enough money for one. i wanted a siamese or other pointed breed. but i saw a spotted bengal at a cat show. i gasped at how beautiful she was. i figured she was a show cat and not for sale, but she was. she had brothers and sisters with her for sale, but when i held her, she and i just melted together. Her name was Genie, and i added the lepoardstar.

Natsumi- Minamoto

	Ill do Murder first. My Murder I got as a xmas present at xmas of 2006 as my aunt had gotten a litter of kittens. Her name was at first Leia after Starwars, cause she was precious as a princess. but after having her for a few weeks I decided Murder was more appropriate, since she was rather violent when she was playful. and she was a little feral. + I thought it was a fun thing to call out when she was attacking me. Natsumi Minamoto. My second cat. Well I was on vacation with my boyfriend and left my cat in the care of my mother, and she had forgotten to give Murder her birthcontrol pills so when I got back I had a quite heavily pregnant cat. and ended up with a litter of 6. one sadly died 2 days after since it was physically unable to swallow. even with help from me and that left Mina as the runt of the litter. she was weak, I had to handraise her for the most part cause the other kittens didnt allow her to drink at all. and I bonded quite much with her so I decided to name her Natsumi which means Summer Beauty, cause thats what she truly was. her second name was named after a good friend of mine that sadly passed away. and may Murder rest in peace

Minxzie

The new kit in- town!

	April 26th 2007 Rcee had passed away and I was just devastated. I felt like my life came to a complete stop and everything around me was a complete blur and I was numb from my grief. After a few days I decided to look at petfinder to just look at some cute kitties to try to make me feel better when all of a sudden I spotted a kitten that looked just like Rcee when she was a baby. I started to cry because I was still grieving for Rcee but this kitten kept drawing me to her. I must have opened that page up at least 50 times before I e-mailed it to my friend and asked her if I should adopt her. I was still so confused and scared since Rcee was with me for 21 years and I felt like I was betraying her with even thinking of adopting so soon. I was also still talking to my grief councilor at that time because I was still trying to get a grip at what had happened on that day. So I called my friend up that night and started to talk to her about everything including the long trip up to Syracuse NY that I would have to make from Boston to get her. After a lot of talking with my friend she said she would take the long trip with me since she lived half way there and this would break the trip up a little. Well the next thing I knew I called the rescue group up and asked if she was still available. I thought for sure she would have been adopted already because it had been a few days and she was so cute that someone would have snapped her up. I held my breath and she said nope she was still available and if I were interested I should fill out an adoption application. I was so thrilled and said yes please!!!! On May 8, 2007 I e-mailed her to send me the application, which I filled out and send back to her the next morning. My adoption was approved at the end of the day on May 9, 2007!!! What a wait that was!! Well that Thursday I drove up to my friend’s house and stayed there so the next morning May 11th we could go to Syracuse. I was in love the first time I saw her!!!! She was so tiny but a spunky little girl running and playing around with all the big kittens. I know I would have my hands full when she got bigger. Well besides her being adopted my friend adopted her brother also who was much larger and such a ham. The agency said that I had such a great group of references around me that she would allow the adoption of my friend’s kitty also. We were both so very happy when we walked out with our baby’s!! So this is how I got my little Minxzie Rece (her middle name) her brother’s name is Lazeroth aka as Laz. What a Happy Mother’s Day weekend we both had!!! Minxzie came about because I used to call Rcee ”DaMinx” so I decided to name her Minxzie. Rece came from Rcee because everyone used to call Rcee (pronounced RC like the cola) Reecee like the peanut butter cup. So I thought I would give Minxzie her angel sisters’ name as her middle name. It’s funny now because when we go to the vets they say Minxzie Rece correctly and I have to smile every time because it reminds me of my Rcee. Sorry this was so long but it reminded me of how sad things were to how happy things are now. Thank you everyone for letting me share this. Minxzie’s mom Edited by author Mon Oct 5, '09 2:40pm PST

Cheebah

	Alli- I picked her out of a friend's cat's oops litter. She was the runt. I was still living with my parents at the time and my dad hated cats, but I wanted one so bad! I snuck Alli home in my sweatshirt, showed her to my mom who loved her, and kept her in my room for 2 weeks before I told my dad I had gotten a kitten! Her original name was Allira, meaning "little gem", but we have always called her Alli or Alley Cat. When I first moved out of the house, I left Alli with my parents because I couldn't have her at my apartment. But as soon as I got a house I brought Alli to live with me. She was here before Cheebah, Chloe, or Lia. She is the "elder" pet at our house and we love her! Cheebah- One of my friends lives out in the country and a cat hanging around her property became pregnant. The mother cat died a few days after giving birth, and my friend hand raised the litter. I picked Cheebah out of the litter because she was the most unique looking kitty. She came home with me at just 5 weeks old. Chloe(our husky mix) instantly loved her and they are still best buddies today. It took us a while to pick out a name for her, and actually my boyfriend came up with the name Cheebah. She answers best to "Cheebs" though.

	My mommy adopted me from the humane society when I was just a little boy. She was watching Jurassic Park and thought I looked like a T-Rex. That is Trouble-Rex so I became Rex.

	My mommy named me Max for a character on tv. Max was a superhuman hero from the future in the series called Dark Angel. She said I was her Dark Angel.

	My mommy found me on the streets as a little boy. She said I had the biggest bug eyes she had ever seen. I was also a little love bug, so she named me Bugsy. I think it's because I drive her bugsy.

Dog

AKA DogKitty

	I got Dog, and my late Stripe when I moved into a house in college where they lived outside as wild, but friendly cats. Stripe (a striped tabby) was a kitten (along with others). Dog was named by my roommate that did not like cats. Over time they sort of adopted me, and I took them with me when I moved. A couple years later, my girlfriend adopted our other cat Pepper from a cat rescue group. Pepper because she is a black cat that as a kitten, had a sprinkling of white hairs.
