On and off: white mouth and nose

This forum is for cat lovers seeking everyday advice and suggestions on health-related issues. Remember, however, that advice on a public forum simply can't be a substitute for proper medical attention. Only your vet can say assuredly what is best for your cat.

I've had Mia, our little rescue cat for about a year and a half. Approximately two months after she came to us, our older cat, Chango, died of feline leukemia. Both of these cats came from the same shelter and I was told both had all their shots before coming to me. So, when I first saw Mia's white nose and mouth, I was terrified that she, too, had feline leukemia and immediately had her vaccinated just in case. However, it went away for a while. Now the white nose and mouth fluctuates with the pink nose and mouth on a regular basis. She is always active and very vocal. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with her. Should I be worried?

Have you brought her to a vet while this is happening? That would be the first thing to do, as perhaps it is nothing, but only a vet can tell you for sure.

Thank you, Smithwick, for your prompt answer. We live in the boonies in Mexico, so the vets are not exactly "on top of things", and are miles away. Just thought someone might know what I'm dealing with here before I make the trek to a vet. (Also, it's just like going to the dentist, right? Your tooth aches like heck when you make the appointment, but the day you visit the dentist the pain mysteriously disappears! LOL) Next time it happens, I'll try to get there before her nose turns pink again! kitty

I just had an idea, try & get a picture next time. At least you would have something to show the vet.
