I have mild gingivitis, any suggestions?

This forum is for cat lovers seeking everyday advice and suggestions on health-related issues. Remember, however, that advice on a public forum simply can't be a substitute for proper medical attention. Only your vet can say assuredly what is best for your cat.

I went in for a dental cleaning last weekend and the doc said I have mild gingivitis. I'm not sure what else to; I get regular dental cleanings, tooth brushing's every day, dental treats, and even chicken gizzards! Is there any thing else I could have my mommy do to help me cut down on the gingivitis or am I doing everything I can?

Thank you!

You're doing a lot, that's great. When you brush, I'd brush with Petzlife gel or Tropiclean instead of regular toothpaste. That's what we use and never needed a dental!

You could also try PetKiss liquid. You put it in their water. It is tasteless, and has no bad ingredients - all natural. I think you are doing a great job though! I think some kitties are just more prone to teeth issues than others, just like people. cheer

Wilbur had dental problems too. His teeth and gums were so bad a vet combined declaw surgery and dental cleaning (including tooth pulling) so he would only have to be anesthetized once. After I adopted him, his mouth was still awful. He needed some more teeth pulled later, when I took advantage of a senior cat discount on dental cleanings.

I will never forget the time I told Wilbur, "You will have your teeth cleaned because you are a good cat." He smacked my mouth to make me stop talking so I think he knew English.
