My cat's first serious injury

This forum is for cat lovers seeking everyday advice and suggestions on health-related issues. Remember, however, that advice on a public forum simply can't be a substitute for proper medical attention. Only your vet can say assuredly what is best for your cat.

My cat is about 6 months old, he's big and strong.
I don't know what happened to him, he's free to go where ever he wants to, he's a liberal cat maybe he got in a fight or something.

I thought his rear leg was broken, my vet friend examined it and told me it was just a dislocated joint, we gave him one unit of 3 per cent something-caine to minimize the pain but he screamed like crazy when we tried to fix his joint, and he bite my right index. Neither of us have experience with cats, nobody gives a damn about cats here.

We put a special tape to keep his leg bent, and he's still traumatized.

Does any body know when do I have to remove the tape?

Thanks very much.

Please be sure he gets to the vet as soon as possible. The vet can set the leg properly, give your cat something to take away the pain and inflammation, and make sure that the cat is comfortable as he can be. The injury sounds serious ... he could have been hit by a car or gotten involved with some mean kids .. anything is possible. Please don't delay. This little fella is definitely suffering.frown

Mia, is right, this kitty needs to get to the vet right now, the longer you wait, the worse its going to get. you also might consider making your kitty a indoor only, so, this or something worse does not happen to him. keep us updated. purrs.

There should be some type of vet in your area. This is not an injury to be self treated. If his leg isnot set properly, it will heal disfigured, and can continue to cause him constant pain. Please get him in, and please let us know the status. purring for you.
