Horned paw?

This forum is for cat lovers seeking everyday advice and suggestions on health-related issues. Remember, however, that advice on a public forum simply can't be a substitute for proper medical attention. Only your vet can say assuredly what is best for your cat.

I discovered this weird brown thing on sweet little Mikey's paw last night. After some Googling, I suspect it is a horned paw. I have read on a few websites that there can be a connection between horned paws and squamous cell carcinoma (a form of cancer), feline leukemia virus, or feline immunodeficiency virus infection. I am going to take him to the vet this week, but I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with horned paw, if you think that's what Mikey has (photo below), and if anyone knows about the possible connection with the scary diseases. frown

Thanks in advance for any information and/or prayers!

I couldn't see your picture, but it interested me so I googled and I found this website. I don't know if you've seen it or not, but it was really informative. One of the things I learned was that sometimes it's an inherited condition, and sometimes kittens have it from birth. I read several webpages and it doesn't seem to be indicative of cancer, but CAN be linked. However, most people commented on the oddity, not a situation that caused their nerves to go! I hope it helps.

I'd say that that's pretty much what it looks like, Mikey! Though, it might be worth having your vet take a look at your next checkup.
