Purring for you Snowball . . . PURRS PURRS PURRS hug
and hope you learn very soon what's wrong.

Tumors on the lymph nodes sounds like lymphoscarcoma but I hope I'm wrong.

I have intestinal lymphosarcoma and recommend the Feline Lymphoma group on Yahoo if you have lots of questions. If you like, I can send you an invite to our Catster Feline Lymphoma group . . . there are links on the group page to articles on the web about lymphoma and chemotherapy, and a link to the Yahoo lymphoma group.

I don't have much to offer here, but my dog had a mass in his abdomen this year. We did the MRI and it turned out to be nothing. All to say, what looks like cancer is often not cancer.

Snowball is an absolutely stunning cat! Please keep us posted as you find out more!

This is Delyte. This probably is not related to what Snowball is going through, but I had a huge, clearly defined growth in my intestines at age 10. I had had it for a while--my poops were thin due to compression for some time before. The vet thought it was lymphoma, and although she did the surgery, she called my person saying that there was a huge tumor here and that it must be cancer. She wanted my person to come in so she could put me to sleep then. My person asked her to remove the growth and she did. It was not cancer, but they do not have any idea why it grew there or if it will return again. So far we have not encountered any other cat with a similar story. But we are purring so hard for the tiny little kitty, and we think you should try and have the thing removed. It still could be something that she swallowed. Giant purrs from all of us here for you! hug

Onyx (O'Nyx- for St.- Patrick's

What's to eat?

Sending purrs your way. Onyx had the same symptoms, same rapid onset. We at first thought it was a hairball (she's the Hairball Queen), but when lots of Laxatone didn't help, we did an ultrasound. That showed no hairball, but lots of enlarged lymph nodes. The vet said it was either inflammatory bowel disease or gastrointestinal lymphoma. Couldn't tell which without a biopsy, and the treatment for either was prednisone.

A month later, she's doing well on prednisone and Flagyl. So we'll see.

Did the vet get a biopsy of the lymph nodes while he was in there?

Snowball is home from the vet. He is like a new kit kat. He eats, poops, plays, sleeps, and is back to getting into trouble. We are just waiting to hear more news on the biopsy.

Yeah, Snowball is cancer free! The biopsy showed nothing wrong, no cancers, or abnormal cells. It is a mystery what caused all the enlarged lymph nodes. He is now eating wet and dry cat food, has an incredible appetite. He is gaining weight back and his fur is looking so much nicer than before. We will just have to keep a close eye on him for any reoccurence, but for now he is healthy and climbing our fake Xmas tree, batting all the ornaments off and liking the fuzzy tree skirt to take refuge from the dogs. Thanks for all the purrs and kitty well wishes! partyhappy dance
