Holistic Treatments for cat cancers?

This forum is for cat lovers seeking everyday advice and suggestions on health-related issues. Remember, however, that advice on a public forum simply can't be a substitute for proper medical attention. Only your vet can say assuredly what is best for your cat.

Well we took Stottlemeyer to the vet specialist yesterday to get a CT Scan done on the oral tumor in her mouth. We were told that the tumor was too big to remove...it would probably require several surgeries. And that would not stop the growth of her cancer, which has already moved all the way up to behind her right eye. In addition, chemotherapy would not work for this type of cancer. The vet said we could do raditation treatments, which would be 5 days a week for 4 weeks, but if anything that would only possibly slow down the growth of the cancer, and that is not even a guarantee. So basically we were told that there is nothing that will cure Stottlemeyer's cancer. She is only 4 years old. And we really don't know what kind of time frame we have for Stottlemeyer. We are not going to put her through extensive radiation treatments for a month when they may not even work (she would have to fast for half the day, end up eating with a feeding tube, etc).

My qiestion to you all is, have any of you ever tried any alternative (holistic) treatments to slow down (maybe cure?) your cat's cancer? If so, did the treatments work? So far I have heard of an herbal remedy called C-Caps and also a cat cancer kit which includes a bottle of ES Clear and 1 jar of granular Greens. Have any of you tried these products? Have any of you ever gone to a holistic vet? There doesn't seem to be any holistic vets in my area (Orlando. FL)...the closest one is 50 miles away. But I would be willing to travel if I thought it would extend my Stot's life. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Stottlemeyer's Mommy

PS Have any of you ever heard that it is better to give cats bottled water than tap water?

Momma gives us distilled water now instead of tap water. Diet is important too. High protein, low grains. Cancer feeds on the carbs found in grains.

We consulted with a holistic vet over the phone without having to be seen. This was to compliment my regular treatment, not replace it.

Sorry, we haven't heard of the treatments you mentioned.

Purrs...I have no experience with cancer but I had FIP and my Mom learned that diet is very important when we are sick...Make sure you are not getting any grains, fillers, or by products in your food...You should be eating a high quality food like Wysong , Wellness, or Tiki Cat..I never drank tap water after I got sick...first I drank bottled water and then when Mom got a filter on the faucet I drank that...she always said if it was not good enought for her it was not good enough for me...Mom has never heard of any of those treatments but I have a dawg friend here at the meadow who took Chinese herbs for 6 months after being diagnosed with lymphoma..She was very comfortable and happy...It was the arthritis that sent her here..There are holistic vets that do telephone consults and who will work with your allopathic vet...I hope that your Mom can find someone to help you to feel better in a more natural way...Please keep us updated

I am sorry that you seem to have gotten a similiar diagnosis as I did with my Norman. I have a lot of questions as well about other methods. I live in a very rural town and there is nothing for many miles. If you hear anything, please let me know.
I have heard bottled water is the best and that is what I have always given my cats!
Please keep us posted.

My mom bought some book The Nature of Animal Healing by Dr. Martin Goldstein and there is a whole chapter about cancer. They talk about glandular therapies and other therapies for cancers. Please buy it or take it out of the library.

I know my mom read some books about some silly cat named Norton who was a scottish fold. Dr Marty Goldstein was Norton's vet and helped him for many years. Dr Goldstein got a lot of popularity after that and is now Oprah's vet. I think Oprah's site has some info about Dr Goldstein as does his own site. Just google it. I do believe his clinic in NY does phone consults with local vets.

At the very least, read the book because my mom liked it and she knows how to keep me in tip top shape.

Oh and I know my mom read about only having distilled water for me. Dr Goldstein said in his book that if you only take one thing out of his book it is to have distilled water for me and other cats. I question that because my mom drinks tap water and she seems ok. I guess maybe it affects my body different because it is a lot smaller than moms body. kitty
