Flor-essence

This forum is for cat lovers seeking everyday advice and suggestions on health-related issues. Remember, however, that advice on a public forum simply can't be a substitute for proper medical attention. Only your vet can say assuredly what is best for your cat.

I have not been feeling too well lately and my Mom has been giving me two pills daily which I hate. She's also been giving me some stuff called flor-essence which I kinda like. Has anyone ever had this? Also my brother Taumbu can't figure out what's wrong but he's been really nice to me.

Have you gone into the vet to have an exam to determine what is wrong? I have heard of the Flor-Essence, but have never used it in a cat. What are the other pills you are giving? What are your symptoms? Sometimes medications themselves can make us ill, so be sure your vet knows what you are giving and how much of each, so they can determine if they are the appropriate meds and dosages.

I did go to the vet and was in the hospital for three days. My Mom and Dad were told I have lymphoma. They finally let me come home because I wouldn't eat anything. I'm taking prednisolone and have been eating alot since I came home. It's good to be home. My Mom found out about flor-essence from a holistic website for animals.

Is your lymphoma in your gastrointestinal tract? Have you considered chemotherapy? Lymphoma has a very good remission rate if caught and treated in it's early stages. I would recommend a visit to an oncologist if your vet hasn't already referred you.rnhttp://www.acvim.org/Specialist/Search.aspxrnrn
I'm glad you started eating again. The prednisone is helpful that way :}

Abbie had lymphoma in her gastrointestinal tract. I went through a pretty tough year or so with her, but I ended up losing her to bone cancer (after I got her into remission from the other). It's very hard when you know your kitty has limited time. All I can say is to make the most of each and every minute with her. She'll tell you when it's time. I do hope you have longer with her than the vet said, but take comfort that the time she has left will be spent with people who love her so much.

I've never heard of Flor-essence. I had Abbie on B-12 shots to aid in the absorption of nutrients. That helped her a lot. The prednisone also helped immensely. I did chemo treatments at home for nearly a year, and they were very successful with the lymphoma. As I said, though, once the bone cancer crept in, there was nothing I could do but monitor her quality of life and wait for her to tell me she was ready to make the trip to kitty heaven.

If you need anyone to talk to, please feel free to p-mail me.

I'm glad you're feeling a little better since you came home. Lymphoma is a chemotherapy responsive cancer. However, the timeline your doc gave you is probably pretty realistic, remission rates on average only increase by about 6 months with chemotherapy, and this is with an extensive chemotherapy protocol created by Michigan State Veterinary School. Of course many cats beat the odds everyday!

Thank you all for your support. I worry about my brother Taumbu, how he will take all of this. We're pretty close. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
