I was looking at photos of cat breeds online and saw this one:

This one too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Birman2.jpg
It looks just like me. Could I be a Birman?
Do all Birmans have to have white feet? I don't. Is that a problem? Maybe I'm a Birman mix. My people suspect I'm pirebred but because I was a rescue they aren't sure.

Hi! Yes you are a true birman even if you don't have white paws. I am the same and my vet said that white paws are not mandatory. So be proud that you are a true birman. Bye and see you soon on catster.Purrr

I have 2 Birmans and as far as I was aware they have white feet. I've never seen a birman without.

The white feet are characteristic of the Birman:

Front Paws ..... Have pure white symmetrical gloves ending in an even line across the paw and not passing beyond the angle formed by the paw and leg, and not passing the stopper pad just behind the leg. Colour of the paw pads irrelevant.

Back Paws ..... Have pure white socks covering the entire paw and gauntlets tapering up the back of the leg to finish just below the point of the hock. Colour of the paw pads irrelevant.

This is off the Birman breed standard for showing. Don't worry you deffo look 99% Birman anyway and you are gorgeous even without white feet.

Hi! smile
Yes, it is possible for a Birman not to have white paws, even though this is considered a big fault according to the breed standards. Though this should only be relevant to breeders and people looking to enter their cat in shows.
The lack of white paws on your kitty doesn't make him any less of a Birman, he'll be just as loving and playful and will make a perfect pet smile
Another thought is that he could be a Ragdoll instead, they look very similar to Birmans, with blue eyes and the same coloration on the face, tail and legs, but they don't have to have the pure white feet. smile
