I have a stray cat that I started feeding 5 months ago. She is close with me but sometimes she gets playful and starts biting or scratching. Because of that, my family members and friends are scared and refused to play with her. As a result, I started to scruff her recently whenever she does that but she would flip her body such that she can glare at me in the eyes and snare at me. I am very shocked and dissapointed as it seems that is not the right way to teach her. Please help!

she's playing with you and testing you the way she would do with other cats. Don't be scared or nervous, she's a little cat, not a mountain lion!smile

Firstly, when she does something like that, a yelled 'OWWWW!!!; very loud will let her know it hurts. You can also have a little plant spritzer with water, and just give her a spritz when saying 'no!' firmly.

When my little guy gets too wild (overstimulated) he gets put into the bathroom for a 10 minute chill. It isnt' punishment, its desensatizing him to that 'moment'.

She needs alot of playtime, and in her world, playing rough is learning to take care of herself. Give her a beanie babie toy to wrestle with and drag around. Get a 'Da Bird' toy so you can interact with her in a positive way. Don't use hands to play with her. Don't overstimlate her by petting her on sensitive areas like her lower back..some cats don't like that.

Good luck. It will be ok. She's just a little one, still learning.
