GO!
This is a place to gain some understanding of cat behavior and to assist people in training their cats and dealing with common behavior problems, regardless of the method(s) used. Keep in mind that you may be receiving advice from other cat owners and lovers...not professionals. If you have a major problem, always seek the advice of a trainer or behaviorist!

I USED THE TOLIET WITH NO TRAINING WHAT SO EVER!!

BUNNY (BUN- BUN)

I'm a perpetual- kitten - small is good!!

Mama came home from volunteering at the adoption center today, and wanted to put the old newspapers up on the shelf for recycling. The half bath is right there, so she turned on the light so she could see. She caught me perched on the toliet seat in a suggestive pose like I was squatting. She thought, no, I'm seeing things. So she looked closer and caught the last couple little drops I was piddling in the toliet!!eek
Even now she can't believe it!!shock She hasn't had anything to drink yet today, so she thinks she seen right. Besides that, she could smell it after I was done.
Has anyone EVER had a kitty do this spontaneously without being trained?? Granted it's an old toliet and smells like a toliet unless Mama is constantly cleaning it (which she isn't - sorry Mama). It's also her "middle of the night" toliet, so sometimes she doesn't flush it 'til morning so she doesn't wake everyone. Mama praised me right away, but I still ran away like I was scared.
I'm not always the sharpest knife in the drawer, but Mama thinks I'm a genius now!!laugh out loud

Tell me about it! Coop's only interest in the toilet is playing with the water and destroying rolls of toilet paper!

Fluff

Whatever it is,- I can break it!

It's Fluff. One of us does this too--she can't tell which one because they leave little round kitty deposits while she isn't home. She thinks it's either me or Queenie, because we are so smart and me because I am so big it is easy for me to get up there. But she has never caught us at it.

Our person has to go to the hospital next week and we have never been alone for that long, so that will be a good time for someone to see if there are deposits.

Unfortunately our person has caught me taking things out of the toilet and rolling them around on the floor. We don't think it's a sanitation device, just a neat thing with water in it.

She would like to train all of us Grays to use the toilet, but we only have the one and it is too hard to share one with a person during the training period.

You should definitely go through the official training now, since you already know what it is for. Except for the fact that it is hard for a cat to flush, it's a great solution. And in the cases when the cat can flush the toilet, you probably have big water bills from the constant flushing!

That is amazing! Just a thought- keep a close eye on Bunny just to make sure she's feeling okay. When Lucy isn't feeling well, she pees in the kitchen sink. I think it's her way of saying, "Hey, mom! I don't feel good!" It is possible that Bunny may have been using the toilet in the same way so keep an eye on her to make sure she's not sick (urinary infection, constipated, etc.). Take care!
