Kaya,

that sounds great, but is it as much fun as banging the drawer with your paws nonstop once you get inside so that you can wake your mommy up to show her what a fun new game you invented? Because that's a lot of fun, plus you get that instant gratification. I'm not sure I'd be able to wait until the morning to have mom give me rave reviews (they do get so excited!)

Thats the dogs trick in this house Kaya. We thought the cats were playing up cause we got a puppy, until we caught him in the act!!
Now there are no animals allowed in our bedroom at all!
As for cupboard raiding, our cupboards don't have proper handles, just little lips to open them with, so the cats can't work it out at all, but when we bring the shopping home they're the first ones into the bag.

if a cat is food-motivated, clicker training is supposed to work wonders...and sprinkles seems pretty food-motivated to me.big grin

gracie-re: your question vis a vis immediate vs. delayed gratification...what about both?
1. wake mom up with your new, neat-o, keen-o trick.way to go in the morning, she will be sleep-deprived, and...
2. will go positively PYROTECHNIC when she discovers what ELSE you did last night.big grinbig grinbig grin

double your pleasure, double your fun...dancingdancingdancing

I was always getting into every cabinet and closet here until the fat lady bought a bunch of those dratted child proof things for the cabinets and rubber bands for the folding doors on the laundry room. I need thumbs!
