I think Stella is talking about those plastic zip ties. I can see how those would be fun!

My latest cheap toy idea is tying together four of those twisted paper handles that are on some paper grocery bags. It looks like a big spider and when you throw it it sounds like big insect wings.

Khina -

I *definitely* have to try the paper bag spider. Kinako loves hiding inside paper bags, but more than that he loves to jump on them, consequently squishing the bag and making it no longer fit for hiding in big laugh

Another cheap toy idea: cardboard boxes (we like the ones that ramen noodle packages come in) cut a cat-sized square into one side, turn upside down and roll and something noisy in....then sit back and let kitty enjoy his/her new fort big grin

Ribbons on a stick!!
You take a garden cane, or chopstick, or a stick you find on the ground, then tie a ribbon, strip of material or strip of fuzzy fur to the end about a foot or two long.
You can see the reaction it gets on snaps current profile picture.
It takes 2 minutes to make and they play for hours. I cheat and give it to my daughter and tell her to run up and down the hall, occupies kids and cats then!

Callie loves rubber bands. She found out where i keep them in my cabinet, and figured out how to open the drawer. applause

i had to move them to a new location, because i don't want her choking on them.

i tried the old 'toy in the kleenex box' today, but i'm not sure how well it went over.
