Arrival Story:
Lily was thrown away by a mean neighbor when she was just 10 weeks old. She was found chasing a butterfly up the middle of a very busy street during rush hour. Some very nice drivers pulled over and stopped the traffic to herd her to the relative safety of a yard. She ran right up to my boyfriend and began to purr and rub against his leg...she picked us!

Goodbye Lily

Lily passed away tonight (11Jul09), and I wasn't there for her. I had to leave for Cape Breton this morning. While I was getting ready, I noticed she was laying on the floor in Cory's closet. I didn't think too much of it because she's a quirky kitty and doing something out of the ordinary isn't really out of the ordinary for her. I figured she was just warm and was trying to avoid the heat. Cory called me at 7:30 tonight because he was a little concerned. He said she spent most of the day in the closet, so he took her out on the deck to get some air...the deck is usually pretty cool, regardless of the outside temperature. All she wanted to do was lie there, uninterested in her catgrass or dill. He took her in and gave her some cool water and she didn't want that either. I told him to call the emergency clinic if he really thought something was wrong, so he did. They told him to bring her in because lethargy could mean any number of things. When he got there the tech seemed concerned because she was pale, and took her out back to see the doctor for a quick look to try to rule out a few obvious things. They decided to test her from FLV, and sure enough...
He made the decision to have her put down despite my pleading to wait until I could get home tomorrow to say goodbye. She's gone now, and I don't think I'll ever be able to forgive him for not letting me see her one last time, and for leaving her alone when she needed someone to let her know how much she was loved.
Isabella, Zoe and Jett will be tested as soon as we can get them to the vet. I don't know what I'll do if they're sick too.
