Arrival Story:
Blackie was living with 7 other cats out behind our building when we moved here in July 2007. She was the first one of the group to let me pet her. A kind woman in the neighborhood had all of the kitties in the group spayed/neutered as part of a TNR program. The group had dwindled down to 4. Blackie hadn't been around for about a week, and we thought the worst had happened to her. On Sunday 10/12, while walking our dog, we saw Blackie!! she saw us, too. She started following us, meowing at us all the while. Hubby said "I wonder if she'll let you take her home?" She came over and rubbed up against my legs. I picked her up, bundled her in hubby's coat and brought her home!! The rest is history....

Bio:
Blackie was about 1 1/2 years old when she came to live with us. She is so sweet and affectionate!! She immediately started using the litter box, and even let me cut her nails. She must have belonged to someone in her short life before I came to meet her. Their loss, our gain!! UPDATE 3/18/09: Well, Blackie no longer lets me cut her nails without a BIG fight! I think her initial complacency was a ploy to convince me to let her stay with us. She is very vocal, with a loud but short "mew" when she wants my attention. She follows me around the house (especially at meal times!), twining around my ankles and begging to be picked up and loved. She likes our daughter and often hangs out in her room at night until she falls asleep, then Blackie's back in my bed. There isn't much room on my side of the bed, between Blackie and Orion (the dog). She is very curious, into everything, and very playful. We are so lucky to have her in our lives!
