Arrival Story: Sofie was our first adoption from Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary, a non-profit rescue organization. My husband and I were shopping at our local Pet Club store on Saturday, October 2nd, 2004, and every Saturday there is a pet adoption fair sponsored by Safe Haven. While we were watching them get set up, I spotted a sweet little kitty face peering from her cage in the very back of the room. Once they were ready to let people in, I went straight to "Lizzie's" cage. Diane, her foster mom and rescuer, told us that Sofie was rescued along with her brother Smitty and sister Midgie on June 29th, 2004, from someone's front yard. The homeowners wouldn't feed them because they wanted them to leave the property. We took turns holding Sofie all wrapped up in a small blanket and decided to adopt her. Diane brought her to our home a few days later. I purchased a pink bed just for her and she stayed there, looking nervous. Milo was the first of our pets to meet Sofie and he immediately started to groom her, which was what she really needed. Milo was like a nurturing father and she loved him the most.

Bio: Sofie was extremely shy towards humans at first, but with alot of patience, love, understanding, and handfeeding of canned food and boiled chicken, she is now the little food beggar and thief! For food she will climb on our laps and paw at our food while we're trying to put it in our mouths. Her meow is tiny and squeaky and she's petite for her age. Though she's still somewhat shy, she's a sweet little girl who has blossomed into a wonderful little lady and has learned that her mom and dad are good people that love her. Sofie has beautiful electric green eyes, but she's very camera-flash sensitive, so I'm not always able to capture their true beauty.

It rained a little this morning and I had scrambled eggs for breakfast! It was cool that Dad dropped some on the floor while he was having breakfast so I wouldn't have to jump up on the chair and wait for some. I was hoping he'd drop some bacon on the floor but it never happened.
Why can't we have a smorgasbord, full of a variety of food? I could eat all I want and never gain an ounce!
Love,
Sofie

My Fall picture is probably only the second time that I ever sat up for a special occasion photo session. First, I am very camera-flash-sensitive, and if there's not enough light, our non-flash pictures don't come out very well.
It's rare that Mom will have trouble getting us to look up because there is a window behind her which intrigues us, but she used a toy to get me to look up this time and instead I sat up, for all of three seconds! Not only that, this is one of the few times she actually used the camera flash for our photos.
Today, I did so good for my Halloween photo and next to Joy, I finished very quickly, but don't think I sat up this time! Most of the time, it's all Mom's fault if we take a little longer because she doesn't have the camera adjusted right!

I was watching Mom empty out the Litter-Robots the other day from my perch in the guest bedroom. When she pulled out the waste drawer to the third one, she not only saw the usual stuff, she saw something colorful...a furry purple toy mouse!
I didn't do it. I know better than to do something tacky like bring a toy mouse with me to the litter box and then forget I left it in there. Who wants to do their business next to a mouse anyway? Eeeek!
Love,
Sofie
